The patch notes say something like, you can see vassals by ctrl-clicking. On what, though? Noob question I know... It sounds useful!

Ctrl+click on the map (not the minimap, the big map that you do everything on), and it'll show direct vassals. You can do it again to show the vassals of a vassal. Ctrl+right-click to go in the other direction (e.g. if you ctrl+clicked twice, you'll need to ctrl+right-click twice to go back to seeing the full realm).

Also note that in CK3 (contrary to CK2), you automatically see vassals of a realm if you are yourself a vassal of that realm, and can only see the realm as a whole if you either have the ruler selected, or zoom out to the paper map. Ctrl+right-click does not work here.

Thanks for the answers, all of you! Well, this murder somehow is not a secret. At least it doesn't appear in my Secrets list. On the other side he got the Exposed My Secrets modifier in his Opinion to me. Seems to contradict. Well, maybe I'll write this as a bug. It is REALLY not realisitc that I cannot punish my own courtier for murdering my friend and courtier!

Well, you're not actually seeing your vassals with ctrl+click, but their Coats of Arms over their territory.

Thank you! So when I right-click on a bit of land on the map, I see lines with directional indications showing vassals (little white lines showing vassals of the title-holder, and a big gold line showing the liege of the title-holder). But ctrl-clicking (either left- or right-clicking) doesn't seem to do anything. Maybe there is not enough feudal structure yet?

Strange. It works for me.

It should work for any realm that has county or higher level vassals, even just one of them. Did you try on a foreign realm? As I noted, if you're yourself a vassal in a realm, it works a little differently inside that realm.

If that doesn't work for you, I don't know how to help you out.

Will I still get the bonus(+5 Same Faith) for Divine Blood even if if I convert to another faith? Basically I want to keep the bonus, but for the new faith I'm going to convert to, which in turn I'm going to make a new faith within.
You will still get the bonus. :) The bonus always applies to those of the same faith as the character with the trait, even if he changes faith a hundred times. So if one character with the trait is Catholic he gets it with other Catholics, his brother who is Cathar gets it with other Cathars, and so on.

Two Questions:

The wife of my ruler (a feudal duchy somewhere in Wales) has a Pressed Claim on a tribal county in Ireland. I can declare war on that realms's leader. However, in the Declare War screen there is "No Casus Belli to choose from", making it impossible to declare war. What am I missing?

I tend to marry off most of my courtiers. However, they only rarely give birth to a child. My first game, year 884, some 8-10 marriages, but childrenwise so far only my aging ruler got two and one of my lowborns got one. With all the others, nothing seems to happen, although in all of these marriages, probability of having children was at least "medium". Is this working as intended (not to clutter the game with too many children, weeding those out who would die in the first years anyway, any other reasons? Or am I missing something here, too?

Thanks for indulging me! :)

You can't press third party female claims against a male ruler of a Male Dominated faith unless he is a child or Incapable. Unfortunately the in-game tips for casus belli don't seem to be working very well atm. :(

There are caps on how many children characters can have, increasing with tier (of self or parents) and a bonus for the player character.

I have discovered a murder scheme against me :(

I'm trying to conduct a witch hunt of all possible agents. But one crucial piece of info I'm missing is what the criteria is for being an agent. I figure that anyone in my court and my council, and my direct vassals are eligible. But I'm not sure. What about members of the courts of my vassals? What about my vassal's vassals? What about my guests? What about foreign children who are my ward? Anyone else I'm missing?

Yes finding the murder plotter within your court is like minesweeper. Best you can do is let the spymaster search for secrets, and check the courtiers/noble's personality traits, like decieving or vengeful paired with skilled in intrigue.

Hey Blokes,

I'd like to know why I always have to fight other parties when I have an active war, but not with them.

Example: I, Lord of Deheubarth, have a war against Mercia. Some vassals of Mercia have other wars, but not with me. I still can attack their armies and they can attack mine. However, I cannot lay siege to their holdfasts. Sounds wrong to me, but at least I can somehow understand it. They are the vassals of the party I am fighting against.

Newest example, however, has not even that. I am still Lord of Deheubarth. My ally Gwynedd called me into a war against oppression the Earldom of Amwythig (Shrewsbury) declared against them. Besides me they also called Mercia. At the same time, Mercia has to defend itself in a liberty war against the Earldom of Annandale, which got support from the Earldoms of Derby and Staffordshire. Mercia has called Gwynedd. I have no strife with those Mercian earldoms, but nevertheless they fight me and I cannot besiege them. The mouse-over for their army reads Hostile, but their colour is not red as is usual with enemies in a war, but some sort of brownish colour.

I guess it is a bug, so I would go on to report it, if nobody else has. I still haven't found how this forum's search function works, so I guess I will report it anyway. Or is this somehow working as intended and I just cannot see it?

Thanks for your input!
Cheers,
Bo

I believe that one of the rules is:

If you and Lord A are both attacking Lord B, and you are contesting (some of) the same land, then you are hostile.

Actually that didn't happen, I believe. The one conflict was Gwynedd vassals vs. Gwynedd, the other one was Mercian vassals vs. Mercia. Gwynedd called Mercia, Mercia called Gwynedd. And suddenly I, ally of Gwynedd, have a fight with the enemy of Mercia. So neither same land being contested nor both parties attacking the same target...

And what about not being able to siege?

I noted that fighting your enemy's enemy when you were NOT fighting over the same claim was WaD in another thread. It doesn't seem right to me though.

Thanks for the answers.

Other question:
When I capture an enemy ally's ruler (f.e. I fight Brittany, Brittany is allied with Meath, I capture the Meath leader), I don't see any benefit. I can't get the ally out of the war ("break your alliance or I execute your husband/father/uncle/whatever"), and I seem not to get any warscore out of it (in comparison with the ruler of the enemy itself, which gives me 50% I think). Ransom for money?

Thanks and cheers,
Bo

AFAIK there is no real benefit to this beyond the normal benefit of a prisoner (ransom, favor, etc).

I've noticed that on the odd occasion this does cause the ally to drop out of the war. This only seems to happen with rebellions, though, and even then it seems rare and inconsistent to me.

I think if they rose up as part of the rebellion, as opposed to being called in, they drop out. Same with warscore as part of a normal war.

The behavior of the ally dropping out of the war during a rebellion is actually harmful, as you no longer get the revocation reason for that leader when the war is won. I'm hoping that this is just another bug vs WAD.
