This might be a bug, but why is my direct (tribal) vassals not getting any levies? i'm getting levies, and my vassals vassals get levies, but all direct vassals are stuck without them. i'm playing tribal russia, has about 5 kingdoms, no empire. the land can have full control and correct religion/culture, or be newly take christian lands, it makes no difference,
and this is everywhere in my land. so my dukes holding 4 holdings themselves have less troops than their opm counts. men at arms and champions only.
is it a bug? am i getting all my vassals levies for some reason? some weird tribal thing?

That sounds like a bug. Your dukes should be getting the levies from their domains, and a fraction of those of their vassals. Only if they're way over domain limit or have 0 control in every county should they have no levies.

Also, why would I be made independent by becoming a king when I was the vassal of an Emperor?
Crusader Kings always gain independence when crowned, specifically to stop them ending up as vassals of the HRE.

The latter one tends to happen quite a bit if they are stuck in a perpetual peasant uprising loop. Since they have no leavies they seemingly agree to control loss over and over again :D

If you are feudal then maximum crown authority gives you +35% levies from your vassals. I don't know if this works for tribal vassals as well, but if it does then you could get 100% of their levies at level 4 Fame, Exalted among Men, as well. :)

Hi guys,

i have two quick questions. My english ist not the best so im sorry for that.

I´m in year 1100 or so i have a big fight to do in the next few gaming hours but from start in 867 till now there are no mercenaries for me to hire. My vassals are hiring them all time and my enemys too. Can someone explain to me why there are no for me? Im the head of my own faith is that the problem or am i just to stupid to see the problem?

Second question, i was the target of an crusade but how can i invite my vassals or the people of my faith to help me. My faith is the biggest in the game now but i had to fight this crusade alone cause i coudnt invite someone?

Someone some suggsetions? Thank you <3

I have a situation where France completely imploded and there was no Kingdom of France title anymore. Now coming in as Britannia I've found it a mess of different territories I want to absorb via war. I have managed to claim the Kingdom of France title but still own only half the de jure land.

  • The HRE holds territories in several duchies but it seems a waste to use my Kingdom CB to conquer them as it's only once a lifetime. However, to take them in conventional Duchy conquests/de jure wars would take 3-4 times as they have scattered counties in all those duchies.
  • Minor duchies hold counties in several duchies. For example Orleans holds territory in Berry and Champagne. They are hostile faith to me and will not vassilise.

Thoughts on how to do this without fighting lots of bitty wars, waiting for the truce, rinse repeat for 20 years in game?

I would assume it. I don't know any mechanic in this game which prevents you from hiring mercenaries.

What happens if you start another game? Are there mercenaries?

Will test this later im at work.
But when i think about it my (sorry dont know the word) headquarters is on island.
Mabye there is to much distance for me to hire. Will test this too.

Edit: So it was the position of me capital. when i move it in the middle of my terretory i can hire them xD

Picked up my game where I left off and my character has disputed heritage (1.0 shenanigans when the AIs went around fabricating paternity).

Am I at risk of having my dynasty flipped to that of the "real father"? That might ruin my run (I can't use the dynasty head claim thing to claim and take Syria)
Will my kids take after his appearance? I read that trait inheritance is based on the "real father" (the "real grandfather" was an albino, so I could probably see that)

really? but i don't WANT 100% of their levies though. can't i give them back? my vassals losing war after war to peasants and random ambitious counts because i'm not babysitting them is really fricking annoying.

do i really have to intentionally tank my prestige so that i don't push my empire into a death spiral just because my guy is too awesome? or at least tell them to call me if they get attacked by peasants so i don't have to play at snail speed and pan over my lands all the time to spot them before they win? or give me a slider of how much of their levies i want with the maximum being set by the mechanics instead of the fixed amount.
i'm ranting now...

thanks for the answers
bug or feature, i really hope they fix this in the next patch...

No problem. :) And I don't know of any way to reduce the number of levies given to you, I'm afraid. :(
