Thing is that iv read in manual that theres something like "internationa cartel of bankers" which basically is and infinite source of loans which provides money when national banks of exisiting countries run ouit of reserves.

How feasible is to play as minor European countries and rising them to level of majors? I am asking as I am on the fence to switch to something bigger from Denmark, Switzerland, Piedmont-Sardinia and make bigger mark on the world as Sweden, Netherlands or Two Sicilies.

Seems the manual is lying again. Just started a new game, took out the biggest loan I could get twice. After that, the take loan button was disabled. Then I switched tags, and found that other countries could also no longer take out loans.

On the other hand, there is more money available than in the national banks in the form of "Private Investors". It's not infinite, however.

I would say thats the point of this game once someone learn the ropes by playing major powers.

The 'private investors' only invest £1500, I think, just as a starting buffer. After that, you take loans from the national banks that will lend to you. You won't be lent to if you already have outstanding debts with them (ie, you previously went bankrupt). There's also a limit of how much your economy is worth, and they won't lend more than that. You go bankrupt when your daily interest exceeds your daily income, and not before. If there's no money to borrow, you don't go bankrupt., you just don't pay for things.

As for minor -> major powers, there are some with real potential to become large powers, such Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, one of the little Italies, Persia, Egypt, Panjab, Japan, etc etc, and some where it's much harder, such as Korea, Denmark, Mexico, etc, and some which are impossible, such as Jan Mayen.

Just wanted to clarify a thing, does "acquire state" cb allows to take only some provinces which are part of same state, or smallest land units possible to gain via wars are entire states ? Also if i want to take few provinces from one state and few from another do i have to add wargoal for both ? And one more thing - which file stores data with political reforms ?

Yes, states are the smallest thing you can take in a war.

You have to have a cb on both states.

I would like to thanks for all previous answers, and ask another 2 questions:
1) Does countries created from "liberate country" cb start fully independent or as puppet ?
2) Does indeed releasing nations lowers infamy, and if so, how amount of reduction is established (is it just a fixed number or depends on number of states owned by released country ?)

1) They start out in your sphere, not as your puppet.
2) I have never released nations, but I think it depends on the number of provinces. I am not sure, and I do not know the formula. I vaguely remember the ammount of reduction to be announced in a tool tip in the release nation window. Again: could be wrong.

Yeah, its still at fixed -5 infamy at tooltip in newest patch should have checked before i asked :) Anyway it seems that both of these options are pretty neat for my strategy of permanently weakening large countries by forcing them to free oppressed countries and bringing latter to my indirect control in 'Mitteleuropa' style.

I am playing Switzerland after my Two Sicilies game has been unwisely ended by allowing Italy to annex me (basically I misunderstood the pop up) and something is puzzling me: when I played as Two Sicilies I was capable of setting 3 National Focuses. As Switzerland I can only use 1, even though I discovered tech that allows me to use more? I wanted to encourage soldiers in provinces where my craftmen are unemployed (West Switzerland) while trying to attract immigrants in another (East Switzerland) as my population is shrinking. How do I increase the number of National Focuses? Furthermore, does National Focus works for ALL regional provinces or does it work only for the one I set it on?

It only allows you one NF per 1 million population in addition to it being according to invention, so because Switzerland has a much lower population, it only allows you one NF

Also, the NF is only for the region you set it on.

I believe it is 1 NF per ~400k primary and accepted culture.

I have total 2.16M population, 541.87k are of working age. It would indicate that the game takes the latter into account. How can I encourage people to stay or immigrate into Switzerland to make my population grow beyond what I have now? Where can I check what makes them leave the country for good? Factors in "Pop Changes" are pretty tricky to read for me...

Also, the NF is only for the region you set it on.
So it doesn't matter if I place NF "Encourage Soldiers" in Zurich (largest concentration of unemployed is there and in Lugano) as people across the whole region will flock to my military?

However, <advertisement>Pop Demand Mod has some decisions to form unions from the outside (Baltics, Yugoslavia, Romania, Italy -- I feel like I forgot one).</advertisement>

Arabia, of course! It's the easiest one to form and (whether by bug or otherwise), will give you a province in the peninsula if you sphere a full-blown Asir.

I have a follow-up question: some soldiers in my provinces are the so-called "Swiss Anarcho-Liberals". How can I deal with them? I don't want to sponsor possible rebels and want to increase the size of my armed forced at the same time...

What that means is that those pops are members of the Swiss Anarcho-Liberal movement. If that pop does ever revolt, they will take their expertise and equipment with them. It's a risk you have to take, if you want to recruit from that population, unfortunately. However, if you keep suppressing their movement, and give them some more luxuries, they will quieten down a little.

For convenience, I often find that putting rebel-pops as a minority in an army is a good idea. It means that when they revolt, they're put down instantly. But they should never really be the majority. Unless you want a succesful rebellion

I have set fairly low taxes for my middle class (10%) and all clerks are employed. However, they do seem to have a problem of getting their life needs fulfilled to their fullest extent. As I am not major power yet can I do something to help them? Stockpile goods and allow to see them to the populace perhaps? Or do I have simply try to cope with it? Same goes for artisans - these guys seem to be unable to get their life needs most of the time. Should I ignore them as they demote to craftmen, clerks and soldiers?
