I don't know anything about CK2 but i know that V2 is much harder to learn compared to EU3. Yet though it is far better than EU3. (my opinion) It may take some time but you will not regret. Learn V2 (with HoD) and enjoy.

Thanks for the nudge. It turns out V2 was 75% off on Steam yesterday, so I took the (small) leap. And after my first 30 minutes, there is definitely a steep climb ahead, but it definitely looks to be worth it.

Is Early Meiji Restoration a no-brainer for Japan? I don't see any major downsides given that Japan has a large soldier pool which can be used to curb revolts.

Yes. Player should always pick as soon is possible.

Sure. After you create NGF it is easier to create Germany anyway (due to more money, soldiers and mobilization pool, and higher literacy).

And Germany have more decisions ,and events than NGF.

Naval upkeep slider and the usual maintenance goods. Not sure if you also be at high lvl port (do steamers get fixed at lvl1?). Check that you haven't disabled purchasing of convoys and artillery and also if you are able to buy them.

There are three Germanies. NFG, SGF and Germany. First is made of North German culture pops and provinces. Second one is of southeners (BAV and alike, also Austria proper). Both of these are included (needed to form) in Germany. In the most extreme case Germany can include Austria, but none of it's other possessions (HUN etc.). This Greater Germany can be formed by either NGF/Germany or Austria itself (need to release all but Austria as puppets before enabling the decision).
That requires rather much conquering and sphering. Trickiest part is knocking the other major out of GP status so it can be sphered momentarily, but the most annoying part is having to keep an eagle-eye on your sphere as everyone tries to rip it to shreds.

These are good challenges at some point in both HOD and the mod POD. End result is rather too powerful to be interesting, but the journey is worth it.

I was playing as Japan but after disbanding the first fleet I built I can't build anymore. In the construction tab it just says that they're gathering resources but nothing is
happening. Any ideas?

There aren't enough clippers on the world market to satisfy the demand of the civilized countries, and your artisans aren't producing any.

There's nothing you can do other than queue a ton of ships and hope the supplies trickle down to you. Do it immediately. I can easily get 10+ ships in a couple years with Japan doing that.

But remember, you won't get any supplies to maintain them, so they will all fall to 5%. Be wary not to engage any other ships.

Can somebody explain to me, why sulfur imported for Sicily although the import is deactivated.
I produce sulfur enough to produce fertilize/dung myself without imports, but the game is still importing sulfur.

I thought it might have something to do with demand. Is there a way for me to make my own?

You can manually import clippers in trade tab. When you select buy 2000 clippers, demand will increase ( price and profit too), so you have higher chance to get some.

What is the best way for Colombia to conquer its neighbors(Venezuela, and Ecuador), and form Gran Colombia?
Can't answer that one.

Is there anyway Mexico can survive the USA?
Be controlled by a human (or protected by a human-controlled GP) while the USA is under AI control.

hope it's ok to ask this here: as serbia i'm focusing crisis, is there some way to increase national focus value for crisis generation? tnx

No. The national focus value is fixed. However: nationalists contribute to the tension in the area, so areas will get "hotter" faster later in the game as these movements grow. I'm not really sure if you really should be spending your one national focus on generating a crisis early in the game. It is better spent on clergy to help boost up your literacy, imho. In due time you will have a crisis on your hands.

Is there a way to get the leadership in a crisis? because it is quite annoying when you are for example germany, very powerful, but somebody else is the leader in the crisis war so you actually get nothing even though you fought on three fronts and killed thousands of enemy soldiers but in the end the leader gets the reward :( I think the first one to join a side is the leader but the ai joins immediately after the crisis started so you have got no chance

It is certainly possible to get something for participating as a junior member of a crisis side, as long as you keep your desires small and occupy the required provinces quickly; I've grabbed Alsace-Lorraine that way, for instance.

I think the first one to join a side is the leader but the ai joins immediately after the crisis started so you have got no chance
Each side of the crisis goes through the Great Powers in turn, in an order that appears to not be exactly "descending order of rank", and asks them for support. When the request comes to you, it appears at the top of the screen, in the same place as diplomatic-request notification icons.

If I build a railroad all through a country, why does it randomly end somewhere and the next province over a new one starts? Does it affect movement or anything?
