Why is the US has cores on Alaska? I am playing a Russia game at the moment, and I refuse to sell Alaska. Now the USA wouldn't want to ally with me because I have her cores. It think it is too biased against Russia.

Historical accuracy. The USA wanted Alaska for two major reasons- It was seen as the last shot at annexing British Columbia as a state (which failed), and in either case, was wanted to ensure that the UK's fleets and armies in the Pacific areas of Canada would be surrounded by the USA in case of war. Basically, the USA would rather have these benefits than an alliance with the faroff Russian Empire- and this is made even more so with the discovery of natural resources such as gold and oil in the region.

Besides, the Russian Empire and the USA were sort of close, but a military alliance between them would be a little bit against the United States of Democracy, Isolationism, and Anti-imperialism.

Once again with a question. How to make a fleet patrolling selected path? Can't find such option, in EU it was in fleet's interface.

Not available in Vicky 2 or any of the expansions.

What condition needs to be satisfied for the Boxers to 'win' 'cos I got a pop-up saying that the boxers had won when I had put down every boxer army and having never fully occupied any provinces. and the boxers winning has cost me all my sphere members, so I'm a little annoyed

1. How does taxation exactly affect the stratas? For example if I set the low tax for poor strata will it bring me more poor people (as middle strata POPs will transfer towards poor POPs) or will it bring more middle strata (as poor POPs have more money now so they become reacher)? What are the best optimal settinf for taxation?
2. Can unemployed clerks and craftsmen of one state be used by factory in the state where is the lack of such workforce? I.e. can factory of one state use workforce from another state?
3. Is it better to make a puppet out of anexed uncivilized country rather than keeping such teritory within the borders?
4. How to change a colonial state into regular, national state where I will be able to build factories?

1. POPs with too little money will demote to lower classes, or not promote to a higher one. However, the middle and high classes have more income and can better resist taxation; in a well-established economy, you can tax your rich to the hilt without them all demoting. You generally want a progressive tax system, with a pretty high rate on the rich compared to the low and middle classes. (You really want to build your middle class, this drives industrialization.) Taxes are economically preferable over tariffs, and you generally want to keep your taxes as low as possible.

2. Factories in one state can't make use of workers from other states. Unemployed craftsmen or clerks will tend to move to states where work is available, though.

3. Depends on what you want out of the country. Generally though, you want to annex uncivilized countries. Your technology is better so you can get more out of their RGOs than they could if you just kept them in your sphere. In time, they may have enough educated POPs to work in factories and the like. With civilized countries, puppeting is usually simpler.

4. At least 1% of bureaucrats needs to be of your primary culture or an accepted culture. The 1% bureaucrats isn't too hard to achieve if you apply your National Focus; the trick is getting enough people of your culture to move to the colony.

Thanks for reply. Is there any good way to move people of my culture to colonial state?:)

Yet another question. Is there any way to control population growth?

Some technologies boost migration to colonies, but in general people will leave the homeland for the colonies if they have high militancy or consciousness. Often, this means you don't need to do much at all. The migration national focus will help get them to specific provinces.

As for population growth, it can be affected by technology, event/decision modifiers and the life rating of provinces. That's about it.

I started as Austria and I formed Germany, now is there a way to assimilate the e.g. Hungarians in Hungary, although they have a core there? I'd like to see if I can change the nationalities map, it's boring when it stays the same the whole game ;)

You can't assimilate Hungarians in Hungary, no. But what you could do is try to get them to move out of Hungary, or to move other cultures into Hungary. Using the immigration national focus on your colonies should help. And if you're devious, you could use the national focus to turn Hungarians into craftsmen, and keep closing all of the factories in Hungary, so they'll start migrating to find work.

How do you get rid of infamy? I seemed to have tacked on 40 (hehe) infamy and I get caught into this death spiral of perma-war. GP will declare war on me, then fall out for the next to declare war. I can't even release satellites...

Unless you can somehow get back to peace (either by beating everyone or by surrendering to everyone) so you can release some satellites, you're out of luck.

Alternatively: Embrace conquest, and become big enough that your infamy no longer matters.

I did that for a while. I was surprised how much manpower Russia really has. It was a long fought and very bloody war but I completely manhandled the might of Austria, Ottomans, UK (well what little they ever commit), and France, including all their spherelings. Damn Germany wouldn't join me until I beat them back then the great occupation came! I think I moved 3 million Austrians and at least a half million French to the Americas by the time was through. I ate up a ton of infamy in that war thinking Germany and I were unstoppable bros. Lo and behold the computer definitely uses you for its own advantage... (took Bohemia, Alsace Loraine, hegemony). Then declared war on me for containment.

Anyway basically this is my situation: I capitulate to everyone, I lost 450 prestige (at 50 now), I lost the entirety of my army, I have massive migrations, massive rebellions I can do nothing about, and am running a big debt (~ a net loss of 1500 to war payments). Forced to cut down modifier does not stack and there is no time to get peace to release since literally every nation has declared or will declare war on me. I fell from 3rd overall to now 20th and probably will fall more. Is there really no other way to get rid of infamy than release, decisions, or ticking modifier?

So I have a friend who would like to play with me, however I have HoD, and he only has AHD, I don't recall seeing an expansion selector anywhere in my game, is match making smart enough to "Downgrade" me or are we just kind of out of luck and he needs to get HoD?
