Their reinforcement rate is probably higher than the attrition rate, assuming that the armies are over the supply limit. You won't see the impact in the individual armies, but their manpower reserves are taking a hit.

To lower your attrition, get generals with high maneuverability and split up your armies until you're ready to battle. To increase reinforcement speeds, move your domestic slider towards Quantity or hire a Quartermaster.

What are the conditions for becoming a merchant republic? I'm currently a noble republic, and I own a COT. Are there other conditions? The big chart on the wiki shows you can switch from NR to MR, but I don't have that as an option.

the CoT must be in your capital and you have to have 25 active merchants as well (so presumably being either Free Trader or have an enormous empire with at least 5 CoTs) - if you meet the reqs you can switch to merchant republic via decision (it's called something like "Implement Plutocratic Administration"), so not like the standard govermnent changing method.

I'm England. I'm at war with Armagnac. I siege it. Aragon declares war on Armagnac. I conquer it and make it my Vassal. Aragon is still at war with it, but friendly with me. What happens next?

Aragon annexes it.

You can use the alliance CB to beat up Aragon to stop it, but the only safe way to keep a newly force vassalised country from being annexed by someone else is to wait until everyone else has made peace before you do. The AI in these situations ought to call you to help it in its war, but it usually doesn't.

Use the console to switch to your new vassal, or save the game and load it up as them. Ask England to join your war with the game paused. Switch back to England.

What if I do not vassalize Armagnac and keep it occupied, will Aragon evententually be bored of its war and give up? (white peace)
How long does that usually take?

Also if my troops happen to be in Armagnac and Aragon invades will they join combat or simply stay out of it?

PS: I'm playing In Nomine, if I load up as Armagnac can I ask England to join my war? I don't think so.

they will peace eventually. If no military action happens in 5 (i believe) years they autopeace. The same applies for you. You could just annex them and then release them.

Do sieges count as military action? Otherwise I think Aragon would get to 5 years after me.
Annexing them costs 3 infamy and releasing only gives 1 infamy back, right? Not worth it.
I decided to let Aragon siege it and see what happens. If they annex it then that gives me a CB on them cause it's my core and I can take it from them free of infamy in a later war.
What would be funny is if they vassalized Armagnac and it was vassal to both of us, but I guess it would lose the status of being a vassal to me so no funny business. We'll see.

They usually don't wait for the autopeace anyway, I usually wait them out in the circumstances you describe. Also, releasing gives 2 infamy back (but loses cores in DW5.2 and later) so it's actually just 1 infamy net, while force-vassalising costs 4 infamy. If you have a core on it, why don't you keep it?

It's impossible for a country to be a vassal of two countries simultaneously. There is no option to demand vassalage from a country who is already a vassal, no matter when they became one. First come, first serve.

I would just take it and take the infamy hit. Sometimes I think you need to see infamy as an annoying side effect of a worth-while investment

Sounds about right. How many alliances do you and the other country already have? The game limits how many non-vassal allies one country can have. Does the other country consider you a rival or feel threatened by you? You can use the view_ai console command to see more reasons they might not want to be your ally.

I'm Russia and I want to make Spain(we have royal marriage) and Austria(this one is my former ally) as my allies. they're both have 5 and 6 allies and not feel threatened by me.

I'm playing In Nomine and it loses 1 prestige, weird.
(I have EU3 complete v3.2 JCSR)
Is it a bug?
Hmm reloading the game either fixed it or I wasn't reading it right. It now says reputation.

I had no idea this command existed and I'm going to start overusing it now. Maybe it's just the countries I tend to play, but half of the time the game has barely begun and nobody wants to be my ally, even when I haven't been at war with anyone yet (so not even with their other allies), they don't feel threatened by me and we have a good relationship and the same religion. It's weird.

I got another question now.
I did the Occupy Paris Mission and I got a bunch of Cores. Some of them are in Burgundy. It says I got CB on Burgundy. I declare war and I get 2 infamy not 1.
Wiki says I should get one:
http://www.paradoxian.org/eu3wiki/Reputation#In_Nomine
Declare war with a casus belli : 1 BB
Declare war without a casus belli : 2 BB

What gives? As a reminder I'm playing In Nomine.

As a test I declared war on Brittany and I got 8 infamy! Just for declaring war! WTH is going on? Do you get infamy for all stability hits in DoWs? I had no CB and military access on them and other stuff.
