They are named differently. Instead of "London's 1st Regiment", you might have "Hood's 1st Regiment". Also, they are a lighter shade of blue (in the army window). There's a "Detach Mercenaries" button you can use to quickly remove mercenaries from an army.

Thanks :D

I also get to the age of Protestantism and get mass revolts and declarations of war from pretty much the whole world. Even my long term ally Portugal turned on me (Byzantium)... how can anyone deal with this?

I just recently started playing the game, and I have run into an issue of which I cannot find the source. For some reason, I cannot adjust the slider that controls my stability funding. The slider itself is grayed out and unselectable. What have I done to cause this, and how can I go about fixing it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your stability is 3, that is the maximum level of stability, and the game will not let you invest further. If not, you have locked the slider, by either right-clicking on it or double clicking it. Do either of those actions again, and you should be able to move the slider. Remember that when you do get to 3 stability, the slider will automatically set to 0. This, if you haven't locked it, can upset where you left your other sliders (including the treasury, which can be annoying).

I have a question about fighting battles. If I send my unit to attack someone, would their unit only use their defensive stats, and mine his offensive, until that combat is finished, or do the units takes turns being offense and defense? Thanks.

I might be wrong, so I'm sure someone else will come along to be "Gela shut up you know nothing" if I'm wrong, but:

I believe defensive is used to mitigate their damage, that is, if they have high shock offense and you have high shock defense, you take less damage than if you had low defense. The defense doesn't actually do damage back.

Another quick question. Me (Byzantium) and my ally (France) went to war with Milan. This is a war I was invited to by my ally. I agreed terms of white peace with Milan so long into the war and now my alliance with France is terminated. Normally I'd understand but, I've done this before and the alliance has continued. So what gives?

Once you have a lot of colonies, it takes a LOT of ducat to maintain enough ships for the tariff efficiency.

Way more expensive than the land maintenance unless you built them all in provinces with naval 6.

Yes, the alliance shouldn't end because of that. I do it all the time. Is the war still going? Did France concede and perhaps have to anull treaties with you?

Well I can't see why they would of accepted anything, but peace. They're territories wasn't ceased. I'm pretty sure they won the war being as they took some provinces, unless that was in a different treaty. Perhaps they just cancelled it after with me next in their plans for domination. We was allied but the relationship was only fairly low.

I also have 2 PU's and neither wish to integrate and both say unlikely... my infamy is 25, and prestige full. Surely infamy doesn't have that much of an effect does it?

the 5.1 patch note for Divine wind states "- Naval maintenance is no longer a joke." what exactly does this mean? does it mean the AI now experiences naval attrition or something to the player that I am missing?

Naval maint used to be a joke. Like, you could build WAY over forcelimit and still not pay much. In 5.1b, though, it was so incredibly high (it was brought to equal with land) it bankrupted some countries that started with big navies. So, our current naval maint is impactful, but still less than land.

Edit:

Well I can't see why they would of accepted anything, but peace. They're territories wasn't ceased. I'm pretty sure they won the war being as they took some provinces, unless that was in a different treaty. Perhaps they just cancelled it after with me next in their plans for domination. Unlikely is good. Unlikely = doable, just spam it, they'll accept eventually, probably around your 5th attempt, could be more, could be less. Remember though that integration has its downsides, and if they are in the same culture group as you or you're both in the HRE, those PUs will give you cores if you naturally inherit them, integration does not do the same.

Yeah only the one is PU unfortunately. I'll keep tryiing then I guess. It's only for a 2 province Bulgaria didn't think they'd be so resilient.

I guess it's not possible to change national religion with the exception of event such as protestant reforms?

I just got the Religious Civil Disorder event, and I have a couple of questions about it. I read that you can end it by converting heretical religions within your country to less than 10%, but that brings me to my first question. If I were to switch my religion to Protestantism while under the effects of Religious Civil Disorder, would that effectively end it or would it actually make it worse since many of my provinces would still be Catholic? The second question I have is how does the choice you make when the event pops up effect the outcome of the event? Thanks.

In my current game, the province of Sidon is unclickable. This is rather annoying, seeing as Sidon/Syria is an OPM enclave in my lands... I tried reloading (without quitting the game), it didn't help. Is there any known solution to this?

Find province menu, type Sidon, click on the name. It will select the province for you.
