When you claim throne, will you get into a PU/succession war even if you don't use the casus belli?

OPMs don't stand a chance to expand with PUs unless they're into royal marriages with other OPMs, do they?

I've taken circa 25% of Ireland while the rest is of my vassal "Courland" (or whatever) so I'd like to sell / donate that land as it has no value and let them form Ireland... my doubt is changing TAG to "Ireland" they would remain my vassal?

Or I risk to lose them in the process?

No. Tag switches don't cancel alliances or vassalage, but in 5.1 BJLT they did cancel trade league membership and colonists in horde territory.

EDIT : If by "Courland" you mean Kurland on the Livonian coast, then they won't be able to form Ireland as they aren't Irish culture. Sadly the AI isn't clever enough to force a culture shift even if there are clear advantages from doing so.

I've got a quick question - the answer might be long but I'm sure it's been asked before so there's no point starting a new thread about it.

How do I replace the music in EU3 (and CKII, if it works similarly)? Simply taking out the default .ogg files and replacing them with others just causes music to not play at all. What other files need to be changed?

Also, can I cause a song to be omitted from the playlist by removing the .ogg file, but without creating a long period of silence? I occasionally do get irked when I'm playing in Europe in the 15th century and Asian music suddenly starts playing - though it's good stuff in its own right it really breaks the mood.

No it is not Courland/Kurland now I remembered it is Connacht (or in English wiki says it could be called Connaught) a legit Irish (provincial) Kingdom so it should create Ireland without problems...

Question about battles, just got some gallo Infantry, and I sent a stack of 20 Units over to India, when I arrived I was greeted by a stack of Indian troops, with their low tech it should have been a breeze battle, but they completely obliterated my army in practically one battle, it was ridiculous, they were inflicting thousands of casualties per turn. The Indian Army had a general, but I don't believe it was much better than mine. This also occurred in France where the French army was a tech below me, so they were still using men at arms. How is this possible? I thought this army obliteration thing only happened in late game?

Many things could've happened. Terrain, general, army maintanence, war exhaustion. Always check your army maintanence to see if your army is fully supplied.

This, Was getting pummeled around by austria as bohemia wondering why I was losing sieges with 10k stacks against lvl 1 forts while they were winning with 4k stacks.... army maintenance is a bitch :p. In addition your army will have taken attrition on the seas and galoihs are not that much better then indian troops yet. Terrain and militairy drill can make all the difference.

Not sure if this is best place to ask a question about the Whole World Mod - I've recently got devine wind.
I'm using the Whole world mod. But there seem to be no Ports anywhere on the map?
I'm using the latest mod and patch.

Did you read the WWM download thread?
Note: Download this file (positions.txt) and overwrite the positions.txt in the mod's map folder, or no provinces will have ports!IMPORTANT (This fix, and others will be included in the next version)

Where is the overall best/richest place in the world to colonize?
How long does it usually take a culture to move to a conquered area? (Ex. British culture moving to France after you annex it?)

1: India, The Carribean and The spice Islands.

2: Culture spreads increadibly slowly. It also can only spread in areas which are adjacent to provinces with your culture already (so mainland Europe is already pretty much out of the question for England), provinces with CoTs you own and your capital. Since all of these are unreliable with a mean time of 250 years to fire, the best way for large amounts of culture shifting is to enact settlement policies. You can enact one on any province which is affected by your national focus and they have a mean time of 50 years to fire (37.5 years if still affected by national focus). This is the best option for a racially motivated British player as you can move your national focus to France, place a few settlement policies on the mainland and then once they finish the culture can (slowly) spread naturally.

This is still a slow and unreliable process, but if you are into keeping small, tight, culturally homogeneous empires, or just want to roleplay or REALLY hate a certain culture then it certainly can be worthwhile. The choke point is having enough colonists to have many of these settlement policies at once.

Final note about switching cultures. Greek<==>turkish and Russian<==Tartar switches get a 90%speed bonus to how quickly they fire, and conquering and converting a pagan province instantly switches it to your culture.

Sadly the AI isn't clever enough to force a culture shift even if there are clear advantages from doing so.
More to the point: The AI isn't allowed to enact the "Accept Culture Shift" decision in the first place. (Probably because any reasonable set of parameters for it doing so would see the Western-ruled Greek-culture states end up with Greek primary culture before 1410.)

an extension to DDRJake's already very detailed explanation: certain National Ideas (Church Attendance Duty and Divine Supremacy for example) and slider positions (notably Serfdom and Narrowminded) also decrease the Mean Time To Happen.

Go with the areas that will likely spawn valuable trade goods (you can find this on the wiki). The Carribean is excellent, it will mostly give you sugar, coffee, tobacco and cotton (plus they're easy to defend islands). South America spawns the same goods and gold, though you can also get fish, naval goods or wool (doesn't seem that common though). Indonesia is nice too, it tends to give you spices or other slave-goods (sugar, coffee, etc.) - note that the region is mostly tropical (gives penalties). North America, from Texas to New York is next up, and it is vastly inferior. Just hope you get cotton. Africa generally sucks to colonise (tropical, natives, high chance to get grain) but south Afrika is ok - non-tropical and 'high' tax. The rest of the world - Siberia, Canada and Australia isn't worth it.
