Lol not that I know of. And not really barring them misbehaving.

But rest assured that you are not the only one who has run into that fun and ironic burgher quirk.

You of course can hold cities, but cannot revoke things without reason. This puts Doges in the funny place of wanting to revoke cities in their capitals, but being unable to. Even if you have the revocation law you need a reason. Even if you get the religious revocation law he isn't likely to convert. His successor will always be random. I have thought well he can marry, the kid will have a claim I think. We could play the undignified game of hitching him, then marrying our primary heir to a daughter. I don't think that plan ever came to fruition, I don't remember why.

So really as far as I can tell you might just have to wait for him to misbehave.

Use the intrigue focus to spy on your vassal mayor until you find a reason to imprison. Then hope that you fail to imprison him and he raises his flag in rebellion. You can revoke the title if he is a traitor.

Or just kill him, kill his heir and the whole line of family. As doge (county owner) you'll inherit baronies, cities and temples if no valid heir is found for them.
Cities and temples generate random successors, only castles pass to the liege.
