Hi there. Long time admirer of the CORE mod. I have been following it avidly from HOI I, right through to Doomsday. Excellent work.

I just have a quick question about my current game using the latest version. I am playing as Japan and decided to try and do things ahistorical. I wanted to create a New Asia feel, so I aimed all expansion north, maintaining a good relation with the US, avoiding the Axis alliance, and avoiding any war in the pacific. To this end I annexed China using the 'Marco Polo' incident and 'Fate of China' events. Then DOW on Communist China to annex that. I release Mengukuo and gave them land. I accepted the peace with Siaking (sp) for now as I didn't want an extended border with the Soviets (knowing I was going to war eventually). I also annexed and released Tibet as puppet, giving them a province of China too. After that, I inherited Indochina from Vichy, and invaded Siam, releasing them as a puppet with additional territory as well. So, with my nice little hegemony (and lots of garrisons in China), I set my gaze on the USSR. My intention was to remake a united Greater Mongolia, giving Mengukuo all of Mongolia and Tanu Tuva (sp), as well as handing the eastern provinces of the USSR (vladivostok etc...) to Manchukuo. So, I waited for Barbarrosa to begin in the West. It did, after a fashion. The USSR DOW'd France, and the US joined the Allies in 1941. After that Germany declared war on the USSR. So, there is a nice three way battle going on there now. USSR vs Allies, USSR vs Axis, Axis vs Allies. I decided now was the time to strike. I am currently rolling through Sibera, eating up land after successfully annexing Mongolia and Tanu Tuva.

So, now you know the background. On to my question. Are there any events in the CORE mod covering an independent Japan vs the USSR? Are there any peace / surrender triggers? Or will I have to take all of the USSR before my war score is good enough to demand the provinces? Also, are there any countries I can release from eastern USSR? An independent Sibera or White Russia etc....?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

I don't think we've come to that, actually. So far focus has been pretty much on prewar events, techs and models. The surrender events (and thus Japanese-Soviet ones) still need a makeover.

Ah okay. Thanks for letting me know. Can't wait to see some events dealing with a possible surrender in the future. I have never liked the Bitter Peace event as it currently stands. As it turns out, I did have the option to release Primorsk, but I wanted to give Vladivostok and all of that area of coastline to Manchukuo. Another option for a puppet covering the large northern areas of the USSR would be great...say Sibera or something??

I did manage to get the USSR to accept a dictated peace in the end, but I had to get a war score of 85% and ended up demanding provinces that totalled something like 50%. As the Germans were at the gates of Moscow, and Leningrad and Stalingrad had already fallen, perhaps Stalin needed to redirect all of his eastern most troops back to the capital rather quickly. The map now looks good for Japan. Manchukuo and Mengkukou are now huge! I'll have to post a pic at some point.

Oh, one more thing. In the 'Fate of China' event, or perhaps immediately after it should Japan choose the Annex option, could there not be the choice to restore the Manchukuo Emperor to the Chinese throne? After all, he was the rightful heir and would bring some legitimacy to Japanese activities in China (maybe less dissent / belligerence score)?

Good point - as China is getting some rework for the upcoming release something to look into.
