So like, why arent there twelve runefangs?

I haven't checked how many there are ingame, but canonically only 10 should be available. The Runefangs of Drakwald and Solland are gathering dust in the Imperial armoury* after the destruction of their respective provinces. The one for Solland might just be lost, I'm not sure when it's supposed to have been recovered from the Orcs who destroyed the province.

*i.e. they're an excuse to have a Runefang on the tabletop without using one of the named Elector Counts.

I'm pretty sure theres only 10 in game, and it makes sense now I had forgotten about solland and drakwald. So is there a reason sylvannia and the westerland never got runefangs? Were they not provinces yet?

The Runefang of Nordland is actually the Westerland Runefang. The Fennone tribe of Sylvania never joined with Sigmar to defend the Empire in Blackfire Pass so they never got a runefang.

Nope. Crowfeeder was the Runefang of Marius of the Jutones who lived what was later called Westerland. Nordland was originally formed by norscan settlers who later joined the empire like the normans did in france.

EDIT: Or at least that's what our team was able to put together after getting an email from Graham McNeill on the matter.

Oh okay, I was just confused because the the description says its traditionally wielded by the elector count of Nordland

Hey so I understand why Khorne and Slaanesh are considered chaos gods, and somewhat why Nurgle is, but how is Tzeentch a CHAOS god? I can see him as a dark god though.

Let me explain, chaos is defined as unpredictable and uncontrollable actions, and this makes sense with Khorne and Slaanesh, random and uncontrolled bloodshed of anyone and everyone, and random and uncontrolled lust and decadence. It sort of works for Nurgle, like tons of random diseases and people randomly dying and stuff, but idk. With Tzeentch however, his whole thing revolves around carefully plotting and scheming. I guess its kinda like plotting with no real purpose, but it still requires like, knowledge on the situation, planning, and short term goals, none of which sound chaotic to me.

The term "Chaos" in Warhammer was lifted from Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion series. As such it has more to do with being cool sounding than it has to do with chaos in the sense of randomness. Of the ruinous powers, Tzeentch is the closest to that sense of randomness as he desire change above all else. Nurgle is the furthest as he values stagnancy.

Chaos isn't chaotic, it is more or less four feudal realms with a god-king on top, each of whom is an evil genius of some aspect of Human psyche.

Also, Tzeentch generally doesn't care about ruining civilisation, he's fine with just filling it with a bit more political assasinations and conspiracies. Civilizations go through four cycles: Growth and prosperity, which is Tzeench, Excess and decadence, Slaanesh, War and Struggle, Khorne, and Collapse and Desolation, Nurgle.

In the Warhammer Age of Sigmar the Gods invade separately, and while the other three Gods' lands are as fucked up as you might expect, in Tzeentches lands nothing changed much, ironically.

Hey so I understand why Khorne and Slaanesh are considered chaos gods, and somewhat why Nurgle is, but how is Tzeentch a CHAOS god? I can see him as a dark god though.

Let me explain, chaos is defined as unpredictable and uncontrollable actions, and this makes sense with Khorne and Slaanesh, random and uncontrolled bloodshed of anyone and everyone, and random and uncontrolled lust and decadence. It sort of works for Nurgle, like tons of random diseases and people randomly dying and stuff, but idk. With Tzeentch however, his whole thing revolves around carefully plotting and scheming. I guess its kinda like plotting with no real purpose, but it still requires like, knowledge on the situation, planning, and short term goals, none of which sound chaotic to me.

Tzeentch is the Lord of Change. He is the very epitome of Chaos, more so than any of the other gods, because Chaos is change - extreme, infinite, unrestrained change whose opposite would be perpetual order and stability (I vaguely remember a quote from one of the old army books suggesting that life could not exist without Chaos - the universe would consist only of vast geometric forms existing forever in a timeless void).

The plotting part is really only part of his nature (albeit an important one in a game like this). The idea is that since Tzeentch is the originator and proponent of change, he also knows more about it than anyone else, and is always seeking to effect it by any means necessary. But since he is himself endlessly changeable, his plots are labyrinthine and ultimately lead nowhere...or do they?

Alright thank you for your responses, I can see that the warhammer definition of chaos is more aligned to that of change, so it then makes sense for tzeentch to be a chaos god
