... define proper?

If you just want to form Prussia, I once did that blindfolded. Don't even need to move the screen.

Ally Poland, declare on Pommerania, get a landbridge to Teutonic order.
If Poland calls you in, pause. Mark all Teutonic provinces as vital interest before accepting the CtA and they'll hand them over to you.
Or you simply siege everything faster than them.
If Poland doesn't call you in, sit around until Livonian order declines the Teuton's CtA, declare on them and take the provinces needed.

It's only Danzig and Königsberg. Afterwards you speed5 until admin10 and form Prussia.

If you're getting bored you can nocb an Irish minor and eat England.

The only difficult thing about Brandenburg into Prussia is not committing suicide.
Every discussion with people who claim it's more difficult than Candycrush ends with them admitting they ran face first into a coalition and ragequit.

ok so by "Proper borders" I mean Big Prussia like in the 1821 start but without the stuff not bordering it, and I basically want to know how to effectively defeat Poland and Bohemia to take Posen and Silicia.

You take the provinces needed, form Prussia, deactivate autopause on events and popups, put it on speed 5 and take a shower.

Come back some time around 1600, trigger CC, pick four military idea groups+administrative, put it on Speed5, prepare dinner.

Come back in 1700, grab dip tech 23 to unlock Imperialism and conquer all of Europe in 25 years.

Wow. This thread has the most unhelpful advice ever for someone asking for advice.

Since you start in HRE, humanism/influence will be extremely difficult in letting you grab land and integrate vassals while suffering less aggressive expansion and getting rid of opinion maluses faster. On top of that, if you want a small but potent military, you want to stack military ideas. Defensive/Offensive are the ones I would recommend, maybe sprinkle Quality on top of it later in the game, and you will have insane quality troops/generals. I would focus first on getting provinces with trade power bonuses (centers of trade and estatuaries) in the Lubeck and North Sea nodes. Don't worry if all your land isn't connected, just make sure you have enough transports to ferry relief forces to deal with rebellions.

Be opportunistic but be careful of overreaching; coalitions is the only real threat to you once you get past the first early hurdles. I would definitely ally the Emperor, possible the Commonwealth or some other major power (Ottoman/Russia) and focus on dismantling the Kalmar Union. It's hard spreading out aggressive expansion in this part of the world, hence the recommendation to go influence as your first idea and humanism as your second. Try to squeeze in humiliations on rival peace deals so you stay above 50 power projection for the extra MP generation. You won't be getting too many objectives in the Age of Exploration (humiliate wargoal, embrace reneissance, and maaaaybe 30+ development city) so choose your age abilities carefully. Reduced aggressive expansion, combat bonus on capitol city terrain, and transfer subject at half cost (rather situational) are all useful. Free war taxes can be okay if you're hurting for money, but war reparations/robbing treasuries should keep you afloat.

EDIT:
Protop: Keep in mind you will suffer a relations hit when swapping religion, which may cause people to dip into negative relations and will make them join a coalition despite them previously not having any intention to do so. I had to fight a gruesome coalition war because I forgot about this the last time I played a Prussia game.

The OP has set himself a goal, the advise is all thats needed to achieve that goal.
Yours on the other hand:
Don't worry if all your land isn't connected, just make sure you have enough transports to ferry relief forces to deal with rebellions.
Would mean that, for historical borders hed have to give away land at the end.

Also:
proper Prussian borders quickly
Defining "quickly" might help. 1520 is alot different then 1600.

Also also:
played Brandenburg about over 75 times
He's not a new guy, he has practiced with them, he should know good beginning stragies.

Advise like this can be found lying on the sidelines all over the internet. Thats nothing "helpful". You are repeating the stuffs thats been known for years.

Hes coming into the forum thinking himself important enough to make his own thread to throw around 2 one-liners.
And you wonder why people dont fall to their knees prostrating themselves.

If you ask me whats the fastest way to get a drivers license and i point you to the nearest driving school is that also unhelpful advise?
