I’m guessing it will be Italy and maybe some minors thrown in. Soviets are a much larger rework and will this probably take longer, especially since the expected Italy minors are essentially done.

But when they eventually redo the Soviets I think it will be trees for Soviets, reworked Poland, Finland, and a communist Germany tree (don’t forget this is still missing and Soviet dlc is when it makes the most sense to add it). I think that would about line up with the amount of content a lot of the DLC’s have.

My bets (and wishes) are Finland, Poland and USSR.
I can't wait for my winter war and defensive gameplay improvements which would be cool in all three countries.

I say nothing new: I wanna see reworked USSR, Poland, I hope of Finland and Sweden, maybe Mongolia. If not mongolian focus tree, maybe just a new formable nation - mechanic like Al-Andalus, next decisions until integrating the Golden Horde. That should be a world conquest challenge. I don't understand, why we can integrated United States of Central America or Mutapa, but not one of the biggest empire in the history.
I have readen, that: "if Sweden, why not Norway or Denmark?". I think, that is not a good argument. We have dedicated focus tree for Netherlands, but not Belgium (and Louxemburg of course ). We have playing as Czechoslovakia, Romania and Yugoslavia for years, but Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey were given in 2020.
In the future, I want:
- expansion pack dedicated to Baltic States (with Sweden and Finland, if PDX doesn't do this in this content)
- huge DLC for colonies with new dedicated mechanic (something like a La Resistance) and focus trees for Siam and french, british and dutch states (these could be like a china warlord maybe?).
I was thinking about South America. Brasil deserves for focus tree because "Smoking Snakes", but I think, that will be very OP. Maybe in South America could be more border conflicts? Historically, during the WWII was border conflict between Peru and Ecuador (I know about this one, maybe were more ).

I personally believe that both Sweden and Mongolia will not come in the new dlc and the most likely that it will accompany the Soviet and Polish rework and the new Finnish tree will be a shared tree for the Baltic countries. Let us recall both the winter war and the Soviet annexations of the Baltic countries were due to the secret clauses between the Nazis and the Soviets and the partition of Poland, the creation of its zones of influence in Eastern Europe.


I believe Sweden is not comparable with the Netherlands and Belgium since the control of the famous Swedish iron that was shipped in Norway was the main detonator of the intervention of both the Allies and the Germans their war operations in Scandinavia, therefore if There was an interrelation between Sweden and the rest of the Scandinavian countries and it was much deeper than the German occupation in Holland that was only a diversionary operation and that the allies fell into the trap to be bagged through the Ardennas.

That makes so much sense. Most of the men and material lost during the war was in the space between those two countries.

It would be difficult to make a major update to the USSR without at least tweaking Germany, Finland, and other neighboring countries. What a happy surprise that could be. I will not get my hopes up, but it makes sense.

If non-historical AI Russia goes Democratic or maybe Non-Alinged, sure. Fascist and Communist Russia would still probably be expansionist.

I don't think so. With La Resistance being what it was with the three countries, its probably just the Soviets, Finland and if they are smart, a Poland rework.

La Resistance was technically 4 countries, since Nationalist Spain and Republican Spain are actually two different tags altogether, and not different ideologies of the same tag.

We can expect 4 countries for Barbarossa (unless they give so much content to the S.U that they won't have time for a fourth tag, which I would be okay with that, since the Soviet Union is basically the entire Comintern faction)

I believe for obvious reasons surely the 4 country that could have approaches could be the Baltic countries having a shared tree similar to the Chinese warlods

We remember both the partition of Poland between Germans and Soviets as the annexations of the Baltic countries and the Soviet attack on Finland are interrelated due to the famous secret clauses of the German-Soviet pact on the areas of influence of these in Eastern Europe

As much as I’d like an Italy rework, they just don’t fit in with the eastern front. They might come in a smaller DLC with austria, ethiopia, and / or nations in the middle east

Also, Mongolia would just be too small to get a tree. According to Wikipedia, their involvement in WWII was fuding a tank brigade, a fighter squadron, and sending 300 men to the Eastern front. At game start, they’ve got 4 factories, and 5 6-width cav divisions and only 2 research slots.

I don't think Italy will come with a small dlc since it requires its own mechanics and it is also possible to do something similar as they did. France creates two small trees for when the civil war breaks out, one for the fascist state created by Mussolini, which was the Saló republic and another small tree for the pro state. ally of Badlogio and King Victor Emmanuel III

I agree with you that Ethiopia and Austria will accompany but I disagree that the countries in which the countries of the Middle East come in, rather trees I see more similar a shared tree for the Balkan republics where the Italians promulgated the internal dissent of the Yugoslav state where Croatia and Albania could suggest a somewhat more specific flavor in these shared trees inspired by Chinese warlods.


About the Middle East I see it more as a country pack similar to the last dlc they have released
