The best 'fix' would be to expose a new feature, that being the ability to adjust domestic policy slider effects via a *.txt file, such as we can already tweak religion effects, province values, event files, such and so forth.

Sadly this idea was shot down before it was even hatched.

Just Set that slider to the middle and you get no positive or negative effects from it, thus eliminating it from the game. If an event changes it + or - edit it back to the middle in the file. If you are really ambitious you can do it for all the AI players as well.

Hello,

I have NA 1.05 and the Central - Decentral slider seems to be working fine. I have the same effects in the mouse over as before. Is it that the mouse over is now incorrect?

There's another thread that covers this very issue, but damn, I don't mind repeating myself. :)

Anyway, the rollover text is telling you the way things should be, but the way they actually are is different. All effects are accurate and work correctly, exept for production efficiency, which is exactly reversed from the intended effect. In effect, one of the negatives of being decentralized is now a positive, so the net malefit of going decentralized (economically speaking) is now significantly smaller.

Arstal, it is an easy fix. But it costs money to release patches since they have to be copy righted, etc. , so Paradox lumps most of the changes and fixes into large bunches so to make bigger but less patches spaced out more.

Unfortunately it's not accessible (JohnMK's suggestion to make the DP effects tweakable would be nice:) ) and a new patch will cost mucho money for Strategy First due to their dumb copy protection policy. And Paradox don't really want to piss off SF by releasing an updated Vision Park version before SF (which they could do because the Vision Park protection doesn't trigger a payment each time it is used unlike the SF version). So they don't tend to release immediate corrective patches unless it's a) easy (like the single missing file for the scenario editor) or b) absolute gamekiller

At least that what Patric and Johan said at the time of the 1.02/1,03 debacle

The only way I can see it being possible for Paradox to release a fix for this without interfering with SF's protection, would be to change it in their own file, note the changes, and write a little file to modify our .exe file without actually messing with anything.

How did this bug get here in the first place? Risking sounding ungrateful: was it not 1.05 that caused this bug in its attempt to fix another? There is always the possibility that by fixing Centralization-Decent. the effort might undo some other string and cause some other glitch in the game. So yes, it will be well when 1.06 comes; but lets just hope that the condition of the next bug will be smaller than this one.
