Don't know if this was mentioned previously, but here's an idea for HOI2, to make things easier for everyone in multiplayer games.

Currently, the tab key brings up a universal chat box where you designate who is getting the message you're about to type. I'd like to see three "hot keys" setup in addition to the tab system. Also, color coding the text displayed in messages will help to determine to whom the messages are directed at. Examples:

F1 brings up "Alliance" Chat prompt: Your message displays in blue text, Visible only to those in your alliance (no matter who is in it).

F2 brings up "Enemy" Chat prompt: Red text, Your message displays in red text, visible to those you're at war with.

F3 brings up "All" Chatprompt: Orange text, Your message displays in orange text, visible to all players in the game.

Hopefully, this will make communication in MP games much more user friendly, clear, and fun. At least it will save on a few mouse clicks and mistaken messages. And if you're not interested in specific messaging, you can always just use the plain old tab - message designation system. :)

Yeah, I considered that.... the funny thing about the Comitern is that you're usually only chatting with one person: USSR. Mongolia isn't a hot country to play in MP, at least in the games I've seen. :D :D

Either way, I think making chat tied to some keys would be an awesome addition to the game. MMORPG's do this all the time, it's about time we see it in a multiplayer grand strategy game.

i like this idea, but i don't think it is a big deal. there are lots of other areas where fewer mouse clicks would be appreciated.
