Was just playing today and noticed that all of my foreign IC ministers (prince of terror, effecient sociopath, compassionate gentleman) all display negative modifiers to foreign ic, and all actually reduce my foreign ic output.

I checked the Minister effects file and everything looks correct, ie:

52_PERSONALITY_PRINCE_OF_TERROR_ foreign IC +15%. CG need +10%.

Also in the minister modifiers file it shows:

# modifies foreign IC
foreign_ic_mod = additive

but in game it shows as -15% and causes me to lose foreign ic.

I've dabbled a bit and switched the minister effects files to -15 but they still translate to -15 in game. Not sure why this is happening, I do have a China mod installed, but it has nothing to do with minister files. Any idea on how to fix it?

What version are you playing? It sounds like an old bug that should have been fixed with 1.04.

Hmm, on second thought it does not seem that any changes i make into the minister effects file seem to do anything at all, either with a new game or a saved game (yes i exited and completely quit AOD after making any changes and then restarted fresh).

Where can you actually see the values being used then?

hi

you should go to AoD/db/ministers/minister_modifiers.txt

there you can change minister effects

eg admin genius:

personality = {
personality_string = "administrative genius"
name = "NPERSONALITY_ADMINISTRATIVE_GENIUS"
desc = "DPERSONALITY_ADMINISTRATIVE_GENIUS"
minister_position = ArmamentMinister
modifier = { type = production_category_mod value = production modifier_effect = 0.1000 }
}

so 0.1000 gives you a 10% + in IC. if you change it into eg 0.4000 you get 40% + IC. i'm not an expert but the rest should work very similar.

remaining question is if you can add new ones (for making a difference between eg Schacht and Speer).

modding national ideas should work similar in AoD/ideas/ideas.txt

EDIT: toyed a bit with this file and modded the admin genius:

Thanks so much! I should have scrolled further in the modifiers folder and I would have seen it! The minister effects file seems to have no effect.

What I found was is that the values were set at -0.15, -0.10 and -0.05 all with the appendage:

#this value is reversed due to bug

But I guess the reversal actually caused the bug for me, not sure why, as previously I did not have a problem with these ministers (at least that i know of)

Once again, thanks!

well i was not aware of this option myself so thank you for bringing it up

EDIT:

well i recently developed a new minister trait for the armament ministry (shoot all cats):

we really need a wiki for such things, me thinks

EDIT: the description and all that has to refer to AoD/config/text.csv (was to lazy to write the whole story so Hjalmar has the "shoot all cats" - trait right now
