I just read the summary of tweaks, fixes, changes, etc for the 1.07 patch, and I have a few questions that I hope helpful members of the EU2 community can answer.

"Fire and shock bonuses to a leader have no effect when assaulting a fortress."

My first reaction was, "WTF?" Am I reading correctly that an army commanded by Napoleon will fight instead as an army commanded by Jacques Nobody when it assaults a fortress?

Thankfully, that was the only thing I read that made me feel a little incredulous.

"War exhaustion will slightly decrease even when at war, if there is no military action going on in the wars a nation is participating in. "

That begs the question -- will a completely inactive war generate any war exhaustion whatsoever?

"Sharing maps will never reveal uncolonised provinces. "

What about sea zones?

....And I think those are all of my questions for now. I haven't played a game yet with this patch, so I may develop more, but just reading the list of changes excites me for its potential. It looks like a lot of immense improvements were achieved, particularly in the field of cracking down on exploits. :)

I read about alot of things in the latest beta patches, that are not described in the 1.07 readme. Were these changes not included or what?

Also, what exactly is does this mean: "You can now cheat with alliances again in singleplayer"? What cheat?

That change was necessary to rebalance the Offensive/Defensive slider. After 1.06 doubled the rate at which war exhaustion accrues in non-national provinces, it didn't make much sense to go Defensive. Since wars now have to be fought as quickly as possible, getting +1 to siege ability isn't nearly as useful as getting +1 to shock (full Offensive), which is used during assaults. By removing application of the leader's abilities during assaults, it makes setting the O/D slider to full Offensive much less attractive.

The massively increased fortress cost would have been enough to dissuade me. :(

1.07 does not include the changes in the latest beta. The beta is ongoing.

Ah, okay. Well this is in one way nice, but still... I would wish that we would get a 'final' patch soon, cuz with patches coming out each day, I never get to play! Maybe it's just me, but I'm like "hey, why start a game today when a better version is probably released tomorrow?"...:D

just play along and then update as the pathces come.

That worked quite well for me in my mughal game with 1.06 up to 1.06b10.

There aren't so many patchs like that... (did you remember how much you had to wait for 1.06 after 1.05 and like lots of people where allways complaining?)

Well, I see the Betas like a bónus...

Did you prefered when you only had access to the final patchs, and you didn't knew what was going on in the beta forum?

The Betas are just that... and I think it's normal to have almost a new one each day when someone like Johan is behind it.

Off course that I could agree that the game is almost perfect and it doesn't need much improvement anymore.

But Johan (and the community) keeps proving that I'm wrong.

The way things are going I start thinking that we don't need EUIII to come out for the next 10 years :D
