1) Probably because of the form of governement. I think you can basically ally romania when it is Paternal Autocrat, National Socialist or Fascist = between july38-jan39 and june40-xxx. You also need +200 relations to have a significant chance to ally them. Same for bulgaria.
2) How much forces have you let in saarbrucken ? If you had nothing don't expect them doing nothing. I advice you to let atleast 30 divisions there, to avoid France breaking your lines.
3) There is no official releasing date for the patch for now, from what i've read. But that shouldn't take ages.
4) I don't think there is a 1943-1944 scenario ongoing. I knew there is some for regular HOI2 here (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...45.-Kampf-f%FCr-das-Vaterland-A-hoi2-scenario), but i don't know if they are actually being converted to DH.

I completely disagree. Any historical strategy game should be a challenge regardless of what happened historically, otherwise it will be over predictable and way too easy (although IRL France did try a very small offensive against Germany but then chickened out.)

Who? Apart from Manstein himself of course :p

The French also DID try to attack the Germans when they invaded Poland, but it was a lame attempt. Still, there were >1000 casualties, so, with a cringe, it can be called an actual offensive. Nevertheless, Gamelin and Fleury can both s... wait, wait, family forum.

If wiki is right then my chickened out claim is entirely true: France had 41 divisions, 2400 tanks and 4700 artillery up against Germany's 22 divisions and >100 artillery. Call me a sucker for statistics but that says it right there for me, especially when the result was "Unforced French withdrawal."

Try this time, to attack with infantry historically (around ardennes). It will grab the french army against your infantry, while your armored force can breaktrought north of france = near calais.
You should have 7-8 tanks/mot by the war (given by events, etc...) that should be enough to create a hold on their lines.

The French plan for victory was to hold the fort line and let a blockade of Germany starve them out in a few years like in 1918. If the Germans invaded Belgium, then a mobile French/British force would enter Belgium and hold the river line there.

I cannot recall any war game yet that reflects the true German Ardennes push without using some special "French Idiocy Rule". In most games though a plain old Schlieffen Plan of 1914 will take out France without the finesse thru the Ardennes. My conclusion from that is that the main problem with the French plan of defense was that it could not be changed to meet any unexpected German attack without an extensive delay in time. And of course, there never was any strategic reserve. Churchill never found that out until after he flew to France and of course it was already too late. The German blunder of halting the Panzers for 72 hours of allowed 300,000 British/French to evacuate thereby saving Britain.

The British guarantee of Poland was almost criminal. They threw Europe into war with no hope or plan to protect Poland. Additionally, the British guarantee served to cause Stalin to make his treaty with Germany in August, 1939. Without the guarantee to Poland, Stalin would likely have made some sort of treaty with France/UK. And -- Poland never got it's freedom after the war due to Soviet occupation. So much for British guarantees!

Well, I think that it wasn't the British guarantee to Poland that caused Ribbentrop-Molotov's pact. Perhaps was the the policy of France and Britain during the 1936-1939 years that did so... Stalin always wished to conquer Poland, first to revenge the defeat in the war of 1920, then because he wanted to restore the Russian empire's borders (and so delete Poland).
Ussr signed the pact with Germany because Stalin wasn't convinced about the real will of France and Britain to start a war against Hitler, and even because Poland didn't want an alliance with Ussr. Really, Poland at that time had no choice, being sorrounded by two great powers who both wanted to invade her.
The british guarantee to Poland wasn't criminal: it's thank to that guarantee (and the war that provoked) that at the end Hitler has been defeated.
It was criminal the polcy adopted when Germany was almost unarmed, giving Hitler the chance to occupy Rhineland, to annex Austria, to invade Sudetenland first and Czecoslovakia then: that was criminal.
Start a war in the worst moment, to defend and undefendable country was really stupid. But the "stupidity prize" goes to....France, that waited for months doing nothing giving Wehrmacht the time to reinforce and transfer all the divisions from the Poland to the French front: that was really criminal. Second place to Belgium, with his nonsense reject for an alliance with France and Britain, even when were discovered the german plans of an invasion
