Questions on CORE and East Asia

So I was a big fan of core in hoi1. Vanilla seemed really weak when compared to it. But...

I've been more or less putting off really playing hoi2 until core was released, but it never seems to be well... released. Do you guys have a target date set? I would hate to finally get my game rolling (I only get to play a few hours a week), and I finally get to 41, and war rolls in straight away only to have core get released, and me be unable to resist installing and restarting my campaign. So if you guys have any idea when core is going to be released, it'd be really appreciated.

Also, in vanilla, asian events seem sorta weak. And I'm wondering what if any attention was made to making a japanese or nat chinese campaign more colorful? Basically - is it worth even waiting for the first version of core, or will that be 95% focused on europe?

Instead of opening another thread I figured it would be best to post my own questions here.

I gather that the first release of core will deal mostly with the tech tree and events but has any thought been put into addressing the combat? I really like the way that Starfire and other mods in that vein slow down the battles as it feels more realistic but I have a feeling that the two mods wont be compatible.

Hmmm...

AFAIK, CORE will not be compatible with nay other mods. we've made too many changes to the tech tree and models, and what events are ready to go would probably cause all sorts of problems if you tried to make it work with anything else.

As for East Asia, work is being done on it, but will not be ready to go anytime soon. There's a lot of stuff that needs to be done and balanced before being included in a ralease.

I know its becoming par for the course for developers to avoid any kind of public timetable, but you guys are modders!

How about we reword the question - what chance do you think there is that core2 will be released in the next couple weeks?

We get the same abuse as developers with modding (a common thing for all modders). We had a release date months ago, but the crash of our website caused us to slow down work, plus also gave us time to revamp things. I think the stuff I worked on in CORE has gone through a multitude of revisions.

Start your vanilla campaign. There are also other mods that have been out for a while.

It sounds like you guys are doing a huge amount of work on this. I'm sure when you are ready for a release it'll rock.
