Question:
After placing the toll booth, you can click on it to open the structure's info panel.
Here, you can adjust the price that the toll booth will charge cars and trucks.
Does the value (price) you decide have any negative consequences?
Should a player just raise the price to the highest level possible, to maximize the profits for the city?

the higher the price, the more the vehicles will avoid it and find another way to their destination

Is that an assumption or do you know that?

Pretty sure that was stated in one of the Dev Diaries. Probably number 8. My internet is so crappy slow and intermittent that it is very slow to check though.

Edit: Yeah, number 8.

Desirability of roads when deciding pathing has been a thing for a long time. Its why you can usually route traffic through highways. They have a very high favor slant when pathing is checked. So a toll booth likely fit into the system rather neatly.

Ah, cool. Thank you, everyone.

There is no escape. They can always take one of the other motorways with tollbooths. I don't care where they pay.

Edit: Truth be told, it seems to be that you spend roughly the same on the tollbooths as they make, so it doesn't matter much. Which makes the traffic steering aspect even more prominent.

I have 3 external highway entrances into my city, I put one on all 3 and maxed it out. Everyone pays to help upkeep these roads!

But wont this force most of the truck traffic to come in via your Cargo Harbor/Hub (ship), the Cargo Train Terminal, etc?
And citizens and tourists (passenger cars) may alternatively arrive via the passenger Harbor, passenger Train Station, airport, etc?
This could be good, but possibly bad if these other areas are overwhelmed. Have you noticed this in your city?

I have not noticed this change at all, I need to watch my borders a bit more but I think the tolls put a weight on how cars get into your city, not what mode of transport they choose.

I agree, this would be an awesome and subtle way to have tourists and goods come in via other methods, port, train, plane, etc.

What could be great is to set the price for a particular category.
You want to avoid truck but cims/tourists are welcome: high price for (big?) truck and average price for other. No low price, I'm greedy :D
No restriction for service too avoid complication.

For promote a transport, a set of different policy could be a valid option, like the one for the Public transport.

You can set prices separately for cars/trucks, isn't that exactly what you mean?
Also services already go through without slowing down or paying.

Yes that I mean, perhaps I miss an option but I see that the price is different between car and truck but changing the price is applied to both category.
I can't set it for each one with an individual slider.

Ok for services, I did not sufficiently pay attention about that ;)

Ohh crap you are right, I just saw the two prices and in my head assumed it is two sliders without really messing with it. That's a bummer and definitely should be added then otherwise it makes no sense! :)

Also just noticed the road tolls and tourism tabs in the budget panel don't show expenses, would love that (there surely is enough space left on that tab...)

Compared to i.e. industry which is very neat and useful for this

The expense for the toll roads should be easy to compute, and I agree should be included on its tab.
But expenses specifically related to tourists/tourism, might be too difficult to ascertain.

I am looking for a solution. I used to use a mod that allowed assets editor items to be used while in-game. Sadly that mod is no longer supported. I love the toll booths and toll roads that came with the Industries free update. However, I can not use the toll roads without having to exit my game and go into the asset editor to utilize the toll roads. I would love to be able to place a section of the toll road down and have the other section of the toll road end in a curve. I don't want to have to exit my game and go into the asset editor every time I want to create a toll road. Is there a mod that allows the asset editor items to be used in-game?
