So I'm thinking about doing a Yuan run, but which tag would be more historically accurate to form it? Oirat or Mongolia? The latter is probably more difficult, but I don't mind it, if it's historically more correct to do it with them.

I'm not an expert of this region, but since Oirat has one extra mission to take Beijing, I would assume that I'm supposed to do it with them. I would also like to do another run in the future, a pretty wide one, where I form the Mongol Empire.
So I think it should be:
Oirat -> Yuan.
Mongolia -> Yuan (?) -> Mongol Empire.

Is that correct?

Oh and another question, I remember reading in 1.33 threads that there was some bug regarding cavalry with Yuan or something, is everything working with Yuan as it's supposed to be now?

Do you mean historicaly close to how the Great Yuan was actually formed, or to which nation would've have been mostly likely to reform a second Great Yuan?

The former would be to form the Mongol Empire and then balkanise yourself, the latter is a bit of a toss-up, I think. Oirat managed to get (and waste) the best opportunity to conquer China by capturing the emeperor (and then failing to do anything with him) whereas (to my understanding) the EU4 tag Mongolia represented the remnant of the Yuan itself, the Northern Yuan, but I don't think Mongolia's 1444 ruler is actually a descendant of Kublai Khan, and at the 1444 start-date, Essen Taishi (Oirat's ruler) was the effective ruler of the Northern Yuan.

Yes, I mean the latter by reforming the Yuan Empire.

So basically both are kind of valid choices to reform them.

Also, when I form Yuan, do I stay as a horde?
Short version: Yes.

Less short vresion: Forming Yuan doesn't affect your government itself. But if you have Mandate of Heaven enabled and want to be horde Yuan, you'll have to destroy the emperorship of China, since, if it still exists, you have to be EoC to form Yuan, which itself makes you not a horde. Though you can then re-horde by forming the Mongol Empire.
