For the next achievement I want to try is "Turn the Table", but I have some questions first before I attempt this.

When you become your colony nation, what ideas does it get? Both the parent and colony ideas?

Thinking of doing Norway since it's small and can easily hope using Iceland. Or I could do Irish (Thought I recenly did Luck of the Irish so uniting that Island all over again.....) again, easy to overthrow and have decent ideas.

What do you guys suggest? Sadly, the wiki doesn't have much about Colonial Nations.

The Colonial Nations have their own unique national ideas. The exception is if, upon breaking free, you choose to remain a colonial nation or change TAGs. I know the USA has unique NIs and events, but I can't speak on what the other formable nations have in terms of NIs and events.

Achievement is easy, and stupid. You can play as, say England. Release Wales, Cornwall, Scotland, Northumberland and any other country, cancel their vassalization, and sell them everything but your capital. Take out a bunch of loans and send all the money to your colonial nation. Get rid of all its armies and navies. And switch. Your biggest challenge is probably going to get there before it gets eaten up... Actually you can probably even move your capital to the new world to a different colonial region. Then switch to the colonial nation and proceed to destroy it with ease.

Colonial Nations have their own National Ideas. And they pick idea groups like regular nations.

Or you could download one of the achievement cheating systems, and unlock it in 20 seconds.

Or you could build up your original nation in the same way you would normally, without trashing it first - perhaps even aiming to unlock a couple of other medium-hard achievements with that starting nation before changing to the colony - and thus try to complete the achievement in a way that's challenging and represents an actual achievement to be proud of.

So many options to choose from!

LOL :p He was pointing out a tactic I could do that I didn't think of however.

Thanks for the ideas guys. But yes, I wasn't trying to do it cheaply; otherwise I could just break up Castile right? Actually now that I think about it. I could take out Portugal as Castile then break it all up so that the colony game is a little more even.

Good to know it doesn’t matter what nation I pick since their ideas won’t translate over. Just need one that will allow early colonization to get a head start on all the other nations right?
