1. How deterministic are the events? The impression I have right now is that some events are very deterministic, and feel a bit like "overkill" (either by what they do or by coming in long, consecutive strings), possibly forcing the player into a certain direction and thusly depriving it (got to stay politically correct) of a significant amount of freedom of choice.

2. The big focus on the Byzantine empire has given me the impression that they 'must' have a much bigger chance of surviving than in the normal game, which I would find troublesome considering that I'm a "fan" of the Ottoman Empire (in the game, not in reality).

3. If I were to install the EEP, would the "fantasy" events include modifications that make them more likely to appear? I don't mind things taking an ahistorical direction, as long as it doesn't happen with an ahistorical likelihood...

1. Which events are you referring to? I haven't noticed tis, but I certainly haven't played every country.

2. The historic byzantine events don't seem to make much difference to Byzantium's survivall. Some argue that they actually hurt Byzantium - myself I think it's about even.

Unless a human is playing Byzantium, they still aren't typically going to survive.

3. No, nothing makes them particularily likely to appear. Byzantium still usually dies, and Wales still never forms.

I'm mainly thinking about the impression I got from the Mameluks thread (though it's still in discussion and not in the game (I think)) and the supposedly (according to a thread I read) much-too-strong knights of Rhodes.

The seccesation events you are probably talking about will hardly make it into EEP, Knights have only one event that asks them to leave Rhodes and move to Malta only if they own both -- because Malta defects to them ocassionally (which it's not supposed to do). Knights are anot overpowered in EEP -- their leaders are worse in EEP than in regular GC, and most of the new events are more of a flavor.
