I'm doing '36 N/N as Argentina, already joined Axis and will be finished with annexing Southamerica(except Brasil) end of '37, then i will take Brasil. My goal for this game was to learn a bit more usage of the "special" formations (MNT,Para,Marine) and distract/disturb USA so my allies can take on the rest of the world. How shall i try to accomplish this? Take Panama to give Japan an easy time in the Pacific? Build Stratbombers for IC damage? Go for oilrich provinces in South-Usa? Go for Eastcoast invasion? I have installed the DAIM-Mod, but any experiences/ideas with Argentina are needed!
Cheers,
Phoenix

use commando leaders to lead your mtn, par, mar units.

USA is a naval powerhouse over you - so building a navy or doing amph. assaults is suicide. Also you'll be vulnerable from US naval action.

So go over land and build a decent airforce (naval bombers and fighters to get air superiority). But expect the US also to be very strong in the skies. But perhaps they'll have to distribute air units and Germany can take the heat away from you.

Build a nice defensive line to fall back on in case US has a big home defense army. Guard each beach...

You might not want to be in the Axis when you're at war that early. Join it and get techs, sure. But if you get DoWed by the USA or if Germany's belligerance climbs from too many DoWs, Germany will never get Anschluss. Moreover, its just plain weaker early in the game. France may conquer it and you'll be receiving both Allied and USA troops, with no european allies to distract them at all.

Even with conquests, Argentina is IC poor, however they have one nice advantage (if I remember correctly) which is their choice of naval doctorine branches. If you haven't done so already, develop doctorines along the same path as Germany (Sealane Interdiction) and begin building subs, they'll give you a fighting chance against the US Navy, help disrupt supplies for them, and when supplemented with naval bombers, you can help bleed the RN prior to US entry to the war..

@Spruce: I'm already training my one or two commando-leaders all the time.
Naval actions would be hard too accomplish for sure, especially cause my whole Navy is level 1, i will scrap them after defeating Brazil.
Maybe i should try what KBromer suggested, my only experiences with Subs sofar went rather bad(as Japan), my 10-14 flotilla stacks got smashed through USA-megastacks(18,30 flotillas). So what to do, research the SS doctrines is clear, besides that, wait for level4 and begin building in series with the goal of 30 flotila-stacks?

I thought of the advices you gave me, decided to leave Axis, hoped i could make an seperate America-Fascist -Alliance. Pushed my relations with USA to 200 and made non-aggressionpact, still 0% chance for coup and alliance.(Why?) So I thought it would be safe to attack Brasil, did it, USA broke nonaggressionpact and declared on me before i could get our relations back up. I joined Axis and took the first brasilian peace offer(getting most of it), then stratredeploy to Panama to get it. USA was faster, though the Luftwaffe and Unterseebootsflotte harassed them they broke out faster than i could contain them(in Medellin). Half of my elite-mnt-troops got destroyed while on ship(seabattlenotification was off due to recent reinstall  ). USA acted fast&good so after 2-3 months of war i decided to give up instead of watching the yearlong march of their inf&armor troops through southamerica. I myself played rather bad, i'm fairly new and don't understand the gamemechanics so well.(Especially the nondocumented like diplomaty).
Cheers,
Phoenix
PS:DAIM Japan did well, too, they annexed China on 11. Sept. '38.
