My ruler was nearing sixty years of age, but my only son—past thirty himself—had not yet produced an offspring on his own. His wife, however, was already in her fifties, and, since I was quite worried about the succession, I had her assassinated so that my son would be able to remarry. However, since I had entrusted him with a barony a while earlier, he was no longer at my court, and thus I could not dictate him a bride. Thus, he chose one on his own: a chaste (-1000% fertility), gluttonous, imbecile and sloth of low birth, with two stats at 0, and another at 1. …she died untimely. At least I went and sought absolution for my sins ere death haunted me as well, and the next wife my son chose was at least wholly mediocre.
He also finally fathered a daughter, so the lineage is secured—unless the plot of my current ruler's half-sister to assassinate her succeeds, that is. (This game is fantastic.)
