Hi guys, the title says most of it. I got the enigmatic decoder, but is it really worth it? Or am I better off using either Shield Capacitors or the Crystal Forged Plating in my A slots? Also, can someone explain what it actually does?

Increased chances to hit. Most useful on your anti-corvette vessels.

*sigh*, hit the space, esc, alt+tab, press ctrl, drag, drop, release ctrl, overwrite - yes to all, alt+tab, load, select, load

I do not get it either.
Sounds like one of those old "Hit Alt+F4" Jokes. I can not be sure, as the combination of Modifier keys makes no sense.

While I am not sure as the key sequence makes no sense to me, I think the joke is that the decoder is so undesirable you should save scum and crash a iron man game in favor of getting something better like shields or generators

Or something worse aka the encoder.... It's a 2/3 chance for getting one of the two crap results :(

You guys not a Windows users, don't you?

You may use drag&drop in Windows Explorer to move files or folders.
If the source folder and the destination folder are present on the same drive, then it's a moving. Drives are different - it's a copying.
You may also use a modifier keys to set up forced commands: Shift for moving, Ctrl for copying, either Ctrl+Shift or Alt to make a shortcut.

So, Ctrl is the key for replacing actual save file with a backed up one. In Windows.

Basically, yes.

I am a Windows User and Administrator. Now with the explanation of having backed up savefiles it actually makes some kind of sense.

Well I use it on my battleships and it seems to be a good component. More accuracy is fine and enemy fleet do not usually come close enough to damage my BS anyway.

And the encoder is for corvettes obviously.

Why do everyone complain about them so much?

Late game corvettes kill the performance... Game is running slow enough with huge cruise and battleship fleets...

I've meant why do everyone complain about encoder and decoder.
Well indeed and I have answered the part about decoder: They are only ever useful on corvettes and once you are powerful enough to defeat the enigmatic fortress, you should stop building corvettes for your computers sake... So they are never ever useful.

That is not a issue with the Decoder. But a issue with Corvette Swarm Performance.

You might as well hate Refugees for the Attrocities they are fleeing from. Wich makes little Sense, Imho.

They complain because it's pretty much one of the bad results. I only ever used the generators and shields - now I have a huge chance to get neither. ^^

It just feels very unrewarding, especially in singleplayer where you don't run into the naked corvette nonsense some people apparently use in multiplayer.

If they want people to use the other two components they should buff them instead of randomly giving them to you so that you have no choice. If they didn't want us to have all tech, I wish they would at least let you choose.

This is one of the design choices I am strongly against, I would much prefer a method to obtain all the tech, even if that resulted in having to spend a truly ridiculous amount of time to research or something equally challenging. I disagree it adds to reputability as honestly the random chance of tech makes me less likely to want to finish a quest chain than more likely.
