Well, I'm thinking of doing a full mod for HoI2 based around a text-based nation RP on another forum, and in the game the US was destroyed very early on and became uninhabitable. The game starts modern day (started in mid-'09).
What I'm wondering is if it's possible to have land that just exists as land, with no ownership by any country?
If it's not possible, would a work-around for having the US lands with little to no resources, no IC, and somehow set the AI to never build anything? How would I go about doing that? I know fairly well how to set them never to research any tech (I could take away all their tech teams as well I suppose), but haven't found the build preferences. If it's not possible to make un-owned lands, then would it be possible to trigger an event at the collapse that removes all other countries guarantees of independence on the US? Or should I just have the event trigger the creation of a new country over the US (hmm, capital wasteland maybe...wonder if anyone's done that before? Heh)?
Also, in the game China went into a full economic meltdown shortly after the US collapsed (I suppose because they lost 1/2 their market), so how would that be simulated? An event that removes almost all of China's IC? How would that look roughly as a script?
Another question to do with Alliances:
Throughout the game's history there's been more then 3 alliances (though 3 actually is the number of the main alliances), so is it possible to have more then 3 alliances show in the Diplomacy screen? And is it possible for the game to remove an alliance from the Diplomacy screen at a certain point in the game?
Also, I know precisely how much work creating a mod is, and the amount of time needed to complete it. But, the set story is pretty damn exciting (the game has had WW3, 4, and 5 already), and the events will be pretty fun to do. Obviously if I finish it it'll be available to everyone, don't anyone go holding their breath though haha.
Also, first post on the forums here
I've been lurking a while though.
