Hi.
I've recently begun playing HoI 3.
I've sent my bombers with continuous strategic bombardement/runway crating missions. The problem is that after losing organisation they come back and do nothing. I thought that the idea of continuous missions is that they are going to proceed with their missions until they lose organisation, rest until they reorganise and then proceed with their mission. It's not fun to manually give orders to bombers every five seconds and watch how they regain organisation.
My units are at passive stance if that matter but other ones didn't change anything.
My question is - how can I make my air forces follow the pattern described above - bomb, lose organisation, rest to reorganise, bomb? Shouldn't continuous missions look like that?
Best regards

One much dangerouse feature is that the game shall keep sending a composite air force to the designated mission as long as at least one of its air group retains sufficient organization, even if another one has a very low organization and even worst strenght, thus easily encurring in the danger of having one or more air groups totally erased;

as to your problem, there's no solution rather than checking manually your air groups from time to time, as much as weary this could be;

hopefully, part of these issues shall be addressed and sloved with the new game;

first-gain air superiority, without airsuperiority your bobmers will just drain you of resources. after that, you wont loose org at all. or minimaly. really, gain air superiority in strat bombing, thats basic. also, you can set bombers of same class (strat bomber,tac bomber) in same airfield as your attacking units and set them as "reserves" it will replenish your forces continualy and your bombings will be more lasting. also, bring two bombing units, one for day bombings other for night ones.

I've never achieved air superiority over Germany, actually far from it until final german capitulation, nontheless never ceased or renounced to implement strategic bombardement over it....

EDIT: with big losses at times, yes.

well, i always try to destroy enemy air forces before land operations begin, with air superiority i can bombard enemy without any restrictions, even can let ai do it.

and try to use 200 planes at the same time. funny shit.

You play as Germany, I presume; luckily, the German AI isn't as smart as you in this;

On the passive setting they won't go back out to fight until they've regained a fairly significant amount of ORG - it could also be that the mission parameters (how long you set the mission to last) has expired by the time they're ready to fly again - or they've got some sort of supply issue that's preventing them from flying (more rare).

Personally, I think this is some sort of bug, or glitch, as I noticed during my USA campaign that I would frequently set my island airforces to continuous Naval Patrol or Air Intercept and come back to them later to find that they had gone idle e.g. No Orders mode. i just got into the habit of checking them regularly, and assumed it was some sort of glitch that caused air orders to get cancelled.

you know, you can open list of all units (there are few dozen air/naval units at best) and see if green arrow appears next to their names to do it without need to actually look at them.

Well I wouldn't have known how to do that, and I was using 'Stars and Stripes' at the time so I'm not even sure if it was an option. But in practie it wasn't a major chore once you realised that 'Continuous' didn't really mean continuous.

You can also hot-key your air units (I mostly hotkey my air force and navies for fast access) cntrl + number to have that unit bound to that number. It saves a lot of fiddling with sometimes hard to click on air fields too lol.
