I started in the 9th century start as Duke in Dyrrachium and Catholicism has been going very strong. A majority of the vassals and almost all the land is Catholic. Now none of the basileus, are getting the strong or coronated basileus modifiers. The government is still Imperial and the empire is still pretty large and the Makedon Dynasty are in power.

There isn't in EMF+SWMH, but there is in EMF.
Well, I was a dumb dumb, but, how can Makedon dynasty be in the game? Do they just spawn after 800s like other dynasties do after awhile?

To answer OP's question, probably because the Emperor is Orthodox and therefore doesn't have a good opinion from his vassals. Also, they probably haven't had good traits, either. It's a godsend nobody has rebelled yet.

I messed up by saying 8th i meant 9th, dumb dumb me. Anyhow the Makedons *retook* power, a basileus died early leaving the Empire to his daughter who was married to the king of France, he almost immediately lost the throne though. One of the cousins took back power from his son but no strong or coronated modifiers appeared when he was coronated, they are Greek but perhaps the French effected the modifier?
