I had question come to mind which has been begging for an answer since I watched Wednesday's Japan single player episode. (great episode by the way!)

Ok so, when Da9l "disbands" or "deletes" and air wing, it the planes from the air wing go to reserves, ready for redeployment. He had no Ace pilots at the time but I assume they go back to the ace pilots available pool.

What about land units? Da9l had 40 garrison units at start, but without the right amount of equipment supplied. let us use that situation as an example. Let's say he has 40 garrison units with 75% of the requisite equipment supplied (missing 25% of what they need), and he then disbands one quarter of his garrison units. Does the equipment from the disbanded units return to the nations stockpile, and then begin to be used to supply his remaining 30 garrison divisions??

What about the manpower used for that disbanded division? Are those soldiers returned to available manpower pool, or exempted from future conscription upon discharge (not returned to the nation's available manpower)?

I would think that equipment and manpower are returned to their prospective pools and then reused as needed. Remember that manpower isn't the population, but the number of men enlisted in the various branches of the military. A division that is disbanded would have it's men reassigned, not discharged.

Supposedly they are returned to the equipment pool / manpower pool. Unless they can't trace a supply line to the capitol in which case they are lost.

Podcat has previously mentioned it as a good way of getting badly supplied units back up to form (e.g. instead of 5 badly supplied units have 3 back at full strength)

Excellent. I can disband a few select units, maybe green units and that will bring the garrison and front line units the supply they need. Then I can replace the ones I disbanded with trained units as the equipment becomes available to really support them.

I'm thinking specifically as Japan here, but there are probably other countries who could benefit from this. If you change the division template to have bigger divisions, you could alleviate the supply crisis by disbanding and "combining". well.. you don't actually combine units, but the undersupplied divisions using the new larger template will quickly resupply, so it's like combining units, sort of.
