I`ve been following this forum and CiM for a few months now and I noticed that is has lots of interesting features which make me very happy and very eager for February 22nd. However, I notice that this game is missing a very basic element found in most modern day cities: bus lanes.

Have I missed them, will they or won't they be implemented in the future.

Thanks in advance.

The problem of bus lane is that it's a mix between city and transport company management. The transport company can decide "here there will be a bus lane", only the city can do it (but if the transport company doesn't care it would be useless).
Beside, not having bus lane isn't the only thing missing. Building a road would be too.

I think that it can be nice that the city gets bus lane on some road but not that the player can put them. Otherwise he put the all city road as bus lane and the fun will be gone.

Yes I agree there should be bus lanes, or just one road in centre of town that only buses use, also in some streets there will be a line of bus stops so that different routes will use the different stops, it is not worth doing that in CIM because buses will not overtake each other so they might as well all use 1 stop which is a shame, overtaking should be possible.

CiM would need some really advanced AI to represent the City Council to decide where bus lanes can be allowed.

Bus manager: "I want bus lanes along the main street in the city centre!"
City mayor: "No, just send your buses down the side street, it's slightly less convenient for passengers but less disruptive for motorists."
or
City mayor: "The reason your buses are queueing up is that you've got 100 buses from the suburbs each carrying three passengers to the centre. Consolidate your passengers at a bus station on the edge of town, and bring them into the centre on high-capacity buses."

or
City mayor: "It's the 1950s. It is the right of every household in a prosperous nation to have a car. Why are you bothering me with old-fashioned buses? Get out of my office!"

or
City mayor: "It's the 2000s. There are too many cars. Certainly, we'll put bus lanes everywhere, and bus stops deliberately designed to prevent cars from overtaking the bus while it's stopped."
