Hey guys, I start a new game ( noobie here) and I start as a dutch from one of the provinces ( the name eludes me) anywho, when I start I have a dejur claim on one of the provinces and I don't understand why? Can someone explain this to me so i have a better understanding of why i have this. I understand somewhat on pressing claims after inviting people to your court but I just started and don't know why I have this claim unless someone in my court has a claim? And if this is the case please let me know how to find out. Thanks...

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
It means that the Ducal title you hold traditionally ruled over that county.
That is essentially what du jure means, quibbling aside.
So because your title used to rule over that county, you have some right to claim over-lordship of it again. Think of it as reclaiming land that once belonged to your family/title.

Check the de-jure map modes, they'll show you where the de-jure areas for all the duchies, kingdoms, and empires are, and enable you to see what counties you will get a de-jure claim on if you hold the relevant title. For example, I'm playing the count of Capua, if I can create the Duchy of Capua I will get a de-jure claim on the county of Napoli. But the Kingdom of Sicily, and the Empire of Byzantium already have de-jure claims on that county because it is part of their respective de-jure areas at the kingdom and empire level.
ok another question, I attacked the province that I had a dejour but now it seems the person I attacked has become my vassal and I am not collecting taxes off the new province and I want to make it mince. What should I have done or could do to make it happen and when is it best to keep the person in charcge of that attacked province my vassal?
Whenever you press a de-jure claim the following scenarios are possible:
A) If you are pressing a personal de-jure claim AND the current owner of the county has no other titles THEN he becomes your vassal
B) If you are pressing a personal de-jure claim AND the current owner of the county has more titles THEN the county becomes directly yours
C) If you are pressing a vassals de-jure claim AND the current owner of the county has no other titles THEN he becomes the vassal of your vassal
D) If you are pressing a vassals de-jure claim AND the current owner of the county has more titles THEN the county becomes your vassals
In your case option A applied. If you want the county yourself you are going to have to either revoke it(directly or thru plots) or arrange a marriage so your descendant gains it
If you want to see exactly whats going to happen to the county in game all you have to do is mouse over the Force Demands option in peace and a pop-up will tell you which of the possibilities will happen

Thanks a lot it cleared it up, but now another question if the person i attacked in that province and after I defeat him is it mine or does he own it? And when I raise a levy do i pull from the newly acquired province I just beat? Thanks so much. Oh, 1 more question before I attack how can I tell how many levy's/troops the opposition will have?

When you raise your troops it will also pull troops from your vassals.. troops from a count vassal will appear in that county. However the county could be under any or all of the following 3 conditions. Recently Conquered, Wrong Culture, Wrong Religion.. All 3 are temporary and will disappear in time(5-20 years depending on which apply). All 3 reduce taxes and levies and can reduce the county to 0%. To check to see if any of those apply click on the county and look at the portrait of the holding for small icons.. mousing over the icons will pop up information describing what the county is being affected by.
You can check page 10 of the ledger and find them on the the list. It shows how much troops they can currently raise + how much they currently have raised.. It does not show the maximum army size just how much currently.. for example if they just had 10,000 die in another war the number will be missing those troops.. however those lost forces will replenish over time. So just because you currently outnumber your enemy, that might not be the case in 6 months.

You guys are the best. Now I just took over the 3 provinces in Ireland that make up Munster. I own Thomond (think thats the name) and I know how the other two provinces and I am their Leige. NOw as the Leige of the other 2 I also collect taxes from them? Do my Vassals kick up to me from other provinces?

You can collect taxes from normal vassals by changing the feudal tax law, but this decreases their opinion of you. Vassals mainly give more levies and you collect most of your money from your own demesne when playing normally.
Ok newest question haha. I had a gent who had a claim and invited him to my court. I pressed the claim and now he owns it and wont accept vassalization He owns it independently and he has a 100 in his opinion of me . So what do i do now?
If you press a claim the claimants will only be your vassal if he's a) already your vassal (baron is enough) or b) if he's of your family. Furthermore the title he gains must be lower in rank as yours (if you are king -> duke and below).
Which means: There's not much you can do other than warring for the counties in questions again.
