Playing as Spain I had an Algiers army of 17K fade away on me in Granada.
They were under a white flag because of peace. They sat there for 6 months, then just faded away. I assumed the AI was not smart enough to come and pick them up with ships. It could be though that the AI just decided it was not worth it or it did not have the ships, so it disbanded them.
