Sorry if this was answered before, searched but couldn't find an answer.
Playing CK2 (legacy of Rome) as King of Scotland.

1) Some of my vassals have the negative opinion modifier "Desires Kingdom of Scotland"
for a -20 opinion hit, but others don't. I'm trying to figure out what criteria needs to be present
for this negative modifier to show up. I was checking out all my vassals to see what the common ground
was that might cause this but couldn't find one.

2) If there is a negative modifier of "Title claimant" does that mean that anyone holding a claim for a
title for which you hold gets this modifier?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help

I think it's all holders of duchies in de jure Scotland. Similarly, "desires duchy of..." gets applied to all holders of counties in the de jure duchy.

Content characters are exempt from this as far as I know.

Yes.

Thanks for the response.

Me_ What does "Content Characters" mean?

I know some are exempt, maybe you are right but I dont know what that term is.
Thanks

Never mind the question on what content is, DUH
however I have Dukes, de-jur of my Kingdom without the content trait
but there is no "Desires Kingdom of" modifier so there must be another answer

I think he means characters with the "content" trait (opposite of ambitious). I hadn't noticed that!

Is it only people who have a claim on Scotland?

edit:
Or maybe they specifically have the ambitious trait, or they have the ambition "desires a title"

It's not only the kingdom of scotland. I happen to also be the king of Ireland as well in this game
and the same applies. I have Dukes de-jure of my kingdoms and some have the opinion modifier
"Desires the kingdom of Ireland/Scotland" and some do not. None of them are effected by either
the ambitous trait or the content trait so that's not a factor in this case.
It's driving me crazy. I know I can deal with the -20 modifier to opinion but if I knew
exactly who gets it and who doesn't, I might be able to avoid the hit in future games.

If you only hold one kingdom title, no one will desire it as it is your primary title and they know you can't/wont give it to them.

All of your Scottish dukes, whos primary title is a dutchy of Scotland should desire the Scottish crown. None of your Irish dukes should desire the Irish crown as that is your primary title and they are de jure vassals, assuming of course that thier primary title is a dutchy in Ireland.

Sopot, thanks for the response. That was exactly the situation. None of the Dukes from my primary title desired it and
all the dukes from my secondary title DID desire that.
