Tell me my friend, will we get a hive minded fallen empire with the utopia expansion? It would be pretty great.

Like a stagnant (Or perhaps quarantined) infestation.....

latest

Or a sleeping (Or just resting..) hive..

I am extremely curious about this.

Would be an interesting thing to come across maybe.

I personally would find it far more intriguing then the current fallen empires.

I was also wondering how Hive minded primitive civilizations would work. IT would be off and out of place for them to not include these things, the hive minds would feel so separated from the current "lore" and would just feel out of place.

If we are getting hive minded ethos, why not get the primitives/fallen hives. I guess it just seems like a no brainer to me you know. Also I think its hilarious that me and @Emraldis have the same pic.

That... would be really cool. It would make for some interesting interactions with observation posts. Oooh, what if you didn't know it was a hivemind until after you start studying it, and you get events that slowly let you figure it out. That would be cool. Like "hey, this people are weirdly unconcerned for their own safety, I wonder what's up with that?"

We still lacks militaristic, pacifist, egalitarians, autotitarians... and hive minds. There were some neat concepts of how they should work proposed.

We have militaristic, actually, the xenophobes. They're xenophobe militarists, they swap when they awake. The xenophiles are similarly egalitarian, and kinda pacifist? But not the the extent that they swap ethos at any point.

Eligalitarian and Authoritarian don't really make sense for a hive mind - if you don't have individuals, how much you value each individual is really a non-starter.

There's no word on additional fallen empires. Although with the unique civics for hivemind there's different types of hiveminds (neural network vs. one mind for example). So you could theoretically have (or mod in) both types of FE.

True, but those still can be altered a bit. Egalitarians may like you for emancipating others and be angry for conquering/vassalising egalitarian empires. When they awake they try to enforce universal emancipation and citizen rights and independence guarantee (for no cost in influence) for every signatory (thats one example).

I believe that they were talking about egalitarian or authoritarian fallen empires, not Hive Minds. Though I can understand why you would misunderstand their post.

We still lacks militaristic, pacifist, egalitarians, autotitarians... and hive minds. There were some neat concepts of how they should work proposed.

I proposed some ideas in my first Idea thread =D I'll repost them here.

Unknowable Builders:

-Their ethos is unknown and unknown both fanatic with ? marks.
-They build random structures in random areas and then leave, and the structures can hurt or help people but seem focused on the builders strange agenda.
-Sometimes they will randomly attack people and take a single colony but then later unexplainably disappear and return the colony to you.
-You can't communicate with them, they seem to communicate a different way every time and it doesn't make sense.
-Their appearance slightly changes (clothes, coloration, etc) over time as well in various ways.
and as for the explanation behind all this...
They are fanatic materialist and spiritual believing they could have ascended using technological means but they accidentally made their race partially sensitive and vulnerable to time, when you interact with them they think they are still at various points in time during their rise to power (for example the random attack and the relinquishing of the colony and the odd changes in communication strategy and behavior). The still sane ones are trying to build focusing structures to "recenter" themselves in time, you can decide the fate of this fallen empire by surreptitiously altering the structures, outright destroying them or helping them finish the network for different rewards and outcomes for the galaxy.
Other ideas for what the reasons could be can be added too to make it random.

Energy Harvesters:

-Desire star energy feeding off it to sustain themselves and will over time destroy the galaxy.
-Can attempt to destroy them or somehow find a way to sate their hunger or lure them into some sort of stasis trap.
-Can bribe them away with energy credits.
-Does not have territory but migrates onboard a titan.
-Do not have ethos

Pleasure Pontiffs:

-No longer have to work due to automation or enslavement fulfilling societal demands.
-Arrogantly believe themselves the pinnacle of all life and will enslave, torture or genetically alter other races for entertainment.
-Completely Decadent and selfish.
-Caste system created a depressed lower caste that is abused by the "nobles."
-You can inspire this lower slave caste to revolt and help them reform their empire.
-They will enslave and genetically alter races to be more pleasing or useful.
-Can sometimes dissuade them from focusing on you by giving them interesting information on other races.

Hidden Illuminati:

-Believe the galaxy will be destroyed by some grave threat down the line because of prophecy or observation of other galaxies. (can be spiritual or materialist but always also militarist)
-Desire to manipulate "worthy" races into becoming defenders of the galaxy and prepare the galaxy for their "guidance."
-They are hidden in some un-noteworthy star system with cloaked fleets and bases.
-Will violently destroy anyone who stumbles on them but will enigmatically benefit or push certain races toward hegemonic imperialism.
-Said races will believe themselves "chosen" and attack nearby nations until humiliated by a more powerful empire.
-The Illuminati will then focus their attention on the more powerful empire and the cycle will repeat.
-Each "chosen" race will be give clues about the Illuminati one can use after they are willing to talk about it from being humiliated to isolate where the Illuminati is.
-Or you can see what happens when the galactic crisis occurs ;D

There's no word on additional fallen empires. Although with the unique civics for hivemind there's different types of hiveminds (neural network vs. one mind for example). So you could theoretically have (or mod in) both types of FE.

Ayy, thats why I'm asking if they will exist.

I hope wiz responds.

Not sure about the illuminati bit, seems weird and maybe a bit broken?

I like the idea however of having someone manipulate other empires into doing things.

I had a concept for this:

The Neutered Consciousness

Basically not a Fallen Empire in the sense of the others, more a suppressed hivemind that's pops have been reduced to presentients infesting several planets in a particular sector of space among mysterious ruins. They'd have a quest chain associated with them where you'll find an ancient structure supressing the hivemind on their 'homeworld' and the player would have the choice to do with it what they will such as freeing it, enslaving it, or exterminating it and the pops with an associated special project and reward. It's obviously not fully fleshed out but it could be a neat thing if it were.
