Seriously. As a native English speaker, some of the foreigners grasp of the language on this board is truly impressive. I wish my German was nearly as acceptable.

That wasn't the issue - and you know it. To use txtspeak you have to be able to use the original language. You chose to use txtspeak in preference to "normal" English and I would suggest as a result some people may have misunderstood your statements to mean that you had already downloaded the game.

What the hell is txtspeak?my english sucks so i just wipe of some letters of some words thats all.
atleast i know the president of France, unlike a president of a nation i could mention.......:p
could we get this crap over with please?

Personally I wouldn't mind getting a free copy to try it out.......

But I would still buy it. I like the manual and the orginal CD..

Anyone that has any brains knows that you update your PC so often that you need an orginal CD...

What happens in 3 years when you get a new PC and you can't find the free shareware version.......

Besides.... those free copies always seem to have game play problems.... especially with patches.

WOw here comes the virus!!!!!! Who do you trust?

Mines is on pre order and due 11-19-03:rofl:

Anyway...getting back OT.
Dont be too worried Paradox. HoI had no copy protection on it at all and you didnt even need the cd in to play and all was well there. (AFAIK)
What got me here was the fact I am a WW2 freak, I wasnt interested in Vicky, saw pics, then was very interested. You are an ethical company that respects its cutomer base (unlike some such as the monster that EA have become). Combine this with the audience that Vicky will appeal to (a somewhat more intelligent clique if I may say so), these kinds of people know that its daft to use pirate software.
Its never crossed my mind to obtain an illegal copy. I shall wait for a review or two, then decide. (I'll more thank likely get it anyway :))

Yep, it's a real shame this piracy thing happened so fast.

For all its worth, to support the great work you Paradox guys have been doing I'm going to buy a few copies and give them as Christmas presents (my own copy I have already preordered!) :)

because it's not that easy to have a demo, where you can just play for 50 years for example, like to have just 2 tracks to driven in Need for Speed or something...some hackers can easly then allow for "whole" timeperiod game, and the demo would be a full version.

It's the same like for "Anstoss3", a football manager game from germany(very much selled there) you also won't have a demo because of the "if players can just play 1 saison it will get hacked etc."

So if your games can easily be moded and must include nearly the whole game for a demo -> you won't get a demo

all clear ?

Plenty of other similar games have time limits. What is Victoria, 70-80 years ? Then do a 5 or 10 year limit, disable parts of the game if necessary. Paying $50 for something that you have no idea how it plays is a hassle, I know it was for me with EU2, but luckily it was great. Now that I know what i'm getting in Victoria (because of its EU2 lineage) its not a concern for me, but i'm sure it is for others who have never played such a title from a relatively obscure game company in Sweden. This relates to the original topic as well. I'm sure there are plenty of people waiting for Victoria that otherwise wouldn't d/l it to get a preview, if there were a demo available.

i could go all the way on this one but ill just say 1 thing.
Im sure you still love arabs or islamic people in general huh.

During the war they wiped out Rotterdam just because they couldnt win the friggin war against us,starved us out wiped our jewish pop ,wiped our roma pop, destroyed half of the hague to built their 'atlantic wall" forced 10s of thousands of us to force labour..etc
after 1939-1945 i as a dutch person have the right to say kraut or such, to a german,or anyone who has 'weird'ideas about how to unite Europe.
and dont you tell me there arent gerry's left that put on there old uniforms on, on a saturday night just to get that 'feeling'again.
I will die for Holland and for Europe but these people have lost my respect, and maybe took away my objectivity.
no offence icecold ,sorry for the harsh reply but i just dont understand how you can take my rights away.
