I only have Hearts of Iron 2 and i was wondering which is the most used mod for the basic game, the 'best' if you will. I tend to mostly play Germany, Japan or... don't laugh... Belgium.

Is there also a mod like for EUIII that allows one to start much earlier and continue far longer after the end of the normal game?

If you don't have Doomsday, the list of available mods is very slim. Even then, most of the best mods have moved over to Armageddon.

I'm sorry if this isn't exactly the answer you need, but I really do believe A) DD and ARM are better games that you'd enjoy, and B) any mod worth recommending needs one or both of them.

nice! ;)

Point A is but some old left over war propaganda... :p

Point B is yet to be established with merit and reason.

Aah okay. Thanks anyway. :D

Just learn how to mod, it is an adventure all its own.

Takes only a few years of steady work.

So you talk about "merit and reason" and then hit me with an eyeroll emoticon? Define "irony...."

If you disagree with my opinion, fine. Insults are not called for.

If you know of any great mods that work with just plain ol' HoI2, please list them here. It will help the poster far more than rude emoticons.

I do not know what side of irony you call good. All my emoticons are irony, is that not what they are for?

Calling DD or ARMA better than HOI2.1.3a is a subjective opinion no one asked for. I simply disagree. A little different perhaps but not better. It is also that I see the unneedful pressure to 'upgrade' ones mod platform upon platform for improvements largely lacking of merit and reason.

Those who still play HOI2 are mostly on their own both to make and find a 'good mod'. That is my point. But what of it, it is hobby not our profession.

It's true that both DD and ARM have added only little to the original if you're not too keen on ahistorical fantasy scenarios. But there are some enhancements 'under the hood', which is part of the reasons why most if not all mods have moved towards them. So IMHO the most appealing fact to ARM (and to a lesser extent DD) is that all the 'good mods' require DD, and in the near future ARM. :D Plus both are pretty cheap to begin with, so migrating won't hurt your wallet much.

I do not wish to belabor my complaining, there is probably well nigh enough of it on the boards. :eek:o

I am keen on ahistorical mods. I wish Paradox followed the A plus B pattern of game enhancements or change instead of throwout A with B cause we have had a change of heart. Such as with the impact of atom or nuclear weapons for instance.

And I have been and am still very deep into AI and other modding of HOI2 and I still remain very unconvinced of the merit of migrating to DD and/or ARMA.

But that is my take on it, almost EVERYONE else agrees with you.

Some days are just like that.

Just go to the Paradox webshop or gamersgate... Or alternatively get a hold on an Antology copy. ;)
