Normally I pick up all main DLCs on release and some of the fluff ones. I didn't purchase Sunset Invasion, mainly due to the fact this didn't interest me at all though Way Of Life I was poised to grab but the resulting feedback on the forums at release was less than positive. Reports at the time regarding WoL showed rulers with dozens of children, wives putting out to all and rampant cases of lovers pox everywhere. Needless to say, this kinda put me off.

I've picked up Conclave since then and must admit, I don't mind the changes made here overall.

Given that it's been some time and a DLC in between, am I missing out on some rewarding aspects of WoL and lessening my CKII experience?

My reason for asking being that on another thread, WoL was suggested as being one of the must have DLC's which suggests to me I'm missing out by not having it? Haven't seen a post with dozens of children for a single ruler for awhile which suggests to me that maybe the initial issues were resolved in recent patches?

I appreciate i'm probably not the first to ask this but besides the initial negativity with WoL, (in all honesty) is it worth getting now post Conclave as I'm getting the niggling feeling I'm missing out on something?

Though I have only started playing after conclave release so I wouldn't know how bad seduction was in the past, I'd say it's reasonable now, maybe a little OP if you are playing as a pagan. Overall I'd say definitely buy it.

Seduction was basically fixed in the 2.5.1 patch, and it isn't even unusual to see wives with the "rejected seduction attempts" modifier. At release though it was pretty much as you said and out of control, then came 2.4.5 where seduction was dialed back a notch though many were still frustrated.

Regardless, it's worth a buy since it does allow you to specialize your characters and gives you the potential for some new strategies. Some may call it a bit exploity, but many others can't imagine going without it.

I find WoL disappointing (finally made my self buy it a few weeks ago).

That said, people suddenly get all stressed and paranoid and depressed and die early.
It's slightly annoying. Nearly everyone has a rival, but that might be the game in its current state.

Probably the intrigue focus to blame as mentioned...and business i think can cause stress and depression too...or so.

Sedcution is patched, but i find far from fixed.

i'd still recommend the "Amended Seduction" mod on the Steam Workshop...or the "seductx" mod....
or even the "No sedcution focus for AI" mod (does not undo already existing focus in save file), but i haven't tried if it's still working.
The "Fixed WoL" mod has some changes, but i'm not sure i approve them all.
MIght make my own mod for the DLC.

Yeah, disappointed, even though i already had nearly no expectations left.

It probably can help with Conclave, thinking of the 'spy on' option that can gets you an unruly vassal imprisoned and 'things'.

WoL is great. The focuses all have entertaining event lines to explore and really expand on how you see your character. I'm playing as a Republic now, so many of my characters have been administrators or gardeners but every now and then I'll deviate into the Scholarship focus or Hunting.

Mater of fact, an amusing side story to tell. Three times now, I've done the Business Focus foreign trade route chain and made friends with the (now venerable) pagan King of Sweden. All three times, I've been unable to proselytize in his court due to: being too soon since my last attempt and now no longer in control of the Republic (damn sudden early deaths). Wouldn't have that sad tale without WoL!

I don't know. I get spammed with carousing invitations all the time. The same thing over and over again.

You can always turn down your friend. Or invite him instead. Carousing is fun, though I've yet to get the socializer lifestyle trait despite taking it a few times for realm stability reasons. Always game master...
