The tooltip in a trade node in the column trade power tells us that the current trade power is calculated as follows

(from provinces + from light ships + 5, if main trade port + ...) * trade power modifier

well, this gives a strange result for Trebizon in Crimea in my current game.

Current trade power of Trebizond is 17.6
From provinces: 4.5
from light ships: 3
main trade port in area: 5

So 12.5 in total. The trade power modifier is 20% so the total sum should be multiplied by 1.2.

12.5 * 1.2 = 15

But Trebizond gains 17.6 trade power. What is wrong here?

Well, I'm not playing as Trebizond. But the tooltip seems to be missing something. IT's not ironman, so I will play Trebizond and will take a look myself...

No merchant. And similar values for Georgia:

Current trade power: 15.3
From provinces: 4.4
From light ships: 3
Main trade port in area: 5
Multiplier: 1.04

So

( 4.4 + 3 + 5 ) * 1.04 = 12.4 * 1.04 = 12.9

Crimea:

Current trade power: 90.2
From provinces: 59,8
From light ships: 6
Main trade port in area: 5
merchant: 2

total trade power: 72.8

Multiplier is 1.238, so

72.8 * 1.23 = 90.1264 which works quite well.

You're absolutely right, there's definitely something weird going on. Though I can't quite pinpoint where it comes from.

I've tried testing Trade Efficiency, but every 10% efficiency I added did add 5% of the original trade power as it should, so that is working as it should.
I've tried testing Trade Steering, but adding a bunch of naval tradition didn't add any trade power at all (except during the steering obviously, but that still doesn't show up in that window).
I've tried testing the new bonus Trade Power for the capital, but while it seemed to be a viable explanation if it was a factor ten off at first, after inheriting a dozen nations that ended up not being the case (as I didn't have that much more trade power after that).

So I'm kind of at a loss as to why there is this hidden additional modifier and where it comes from.

Check the tooltip for the last column, bonus items there (I.e. power transfered from upstream) is added afterwards (E.g. (tradePower*effientcy) + transfered power)

Well, I'm speaking of the tooltip for the last column. And 2.6 power upstream for Trebizond (a single province)?

And again: if this is true, the tooltip is wrong.

Is it. power transfered from upstream as this is added afterwards (E.g. (tradePower*effientcy) + transfered power)
I tested it specifically for Venice in both Venice and Ragusa, Venice was the one where it didn't add up, Ragusa was fine, so propagated trade power is not involved. There also were no nodes that were transferring their trade power back to the capital, as everything I had power in lead directly to Venice.

Youll get more tradepower in tradecapital if you arent collecting anywhere else. Not sure if that solves it.
No, it doesn't, those modifiers are listed, and they do seem to be correct.

So post this bug in the bug-report forum? It's not a great deal and the devs have to iron out some more important bugs. But something seems to be wrong here.

Ok, here it is:

eu4-trade-power-bug.jpg

Trebizond

Current Trade Power 8.2

From Provinces: +1.8
Main Trade Port in area: +5.0
Multiplied by 1.02

( 1.8 + 5.0 ) * 1.02 = 6,94

But Trade power for Trebizond is 8.2.

EDIT: It's an old save from my current game. The game started in 1.8 AoW (but no fresh install). And the funny part: Later (but not much later) in the same game all values are correct.

Likely values not getting updated somewhere along the chain right. Not a big deal i'd imagine, but still a good find to see if there are problems.
