My friend and I are playing the Byzantine Emperor and the King of Anatolia, Syria, and Armenia, respectively. For the last 30 years I've been making sure that the Mongols only have a regency and I've married into the golden horde. My question is this, can I wage war on the Ilkhanate, press surrender and have 10 years of peace so I can expand south westward towards west Africa and my friend absorbing the HRE/Bohemia? Because we really need the time to martial resources to fight off his 200+K horse archers and at the moment we would just...die.

Peace treaties are unilateral. So if you declare war and then surrender he can still declare war on you without any penalty. Hmm, white peace might be bilateral though.
Oh boy, I wish I knew where his 200k army normally resides in so I would some idea of how much time I would have to get good enough war score to at least test out white peace.
