I have had this pre-ordered on Gamer's gate since it was first available, however I am concerned about the fact it was revealed it is technically a CK2 DLC. I own the steam version of CK2, will I have to buy the converter again because I made the mistake of pre-ordering on GG (as GG CK2 DLC never works on Steam versions), or is there still time to address this?

PS: Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I wasn't sure where it belongs exactly

As I understand it, you should be ok as for EUIV, all purchasing via GG does is provide you with a steam key. However, if the situation was the other way around (like it is for me) you'd be stuck. I'm currently debating whether it's worth cancelling my pre-order with GMG and spending more to get the GG version just to be able to use the CK2 converter (I know you get a free copy of CK2 with EUIV pre-purchases but all the DLC are on my GG version). On a side note, although I appreciate the technical difficulties in harmonising Steam and GG versions of CK2, I'm a bit frustrated that the need for customers who own CK2 on GG to have purchased EUIV to use the converter has been announced so late.

So if I understand you correctly, the converter key we get should be a Steam CK2 dlc key, and not a GG one (if pre-ordered from GG)?

And yeah I agree with you, this whole thing is a bit of mess that probably could have been predicted before on paradox's part.

If you pre-order on GamersGate you get the GamersGate version of the converter:

Well, that's crappy. Guess I'll cancel my pre-order at GG and do it over at GOG. I still get all the pre-order bonuses though correct?

i have another question... will the ck2 converter work if i don't play until 1444.. i could i create a large Mali Empire in the south until.. say 1100, save it and use that in Eu IV?
and what happens if i have a 1452 save game with such an empire and start at 1444 .. or do i have to play until 1444-1454 to use that savegame as a starting point?

You can convert ANY CK2 game, at any time.

HOWEVER! The EU4 game/mod will ALWAYS start in 1444, irrespective of the CK2 year.
