While waiting for the second expansion, I started thinking about buying TfV first. But after reading the reviews on Steam I changed my mind. But still, I wanted to open this thread and ask everyone. Is Together for Victory worth buying? Will there be a sale for it in a short time? Or should I buy it right now? Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated.

Thank you.

If you play commonwealth countries regularly then yes, probably even at full price. If you occasionally play commonwealth countries, then yes but probably only at a discount. If you hardly ever or don't play commonwealth countries then wait for a deep sale.

Don't forget that what would have been a separate content pack of models etc is included in TfV and this is what adds to the price.

EDIT: I personally brought it and don't regret my decision. I only play the commonethealth occasionally and I'm yet to play a South Africa game or a proper NZ game, yet I consider I have got my moneys worth (at the moment probably under 50p a hour of TfV nations played).

Thanks for the advice! And no,I have never played any of the Commonwealth nations before, but the autonomy system and the focus trees would make them more fun to play as. So I might actually play as them more frequently , also for the new achievements that came with TfV.

After palying the TfV focus trees I feel sad when i go back to the original ones for the majors, they are just that good! Hopefully the original ones get a make over soon.

Personal opinion:

TFV is really very bad, like in american grades it would be somewhere around D, maybe even "F"ish.

I'm okay with having bought it to support the development, as with it came some much-needed bugfixes which probably were being paid for with this DLC, but just from a gameplay perspective: If you're neither a super-hardcore HOI4 fan who wants to have "the complete collection", nor a super fan of one of the commonwealth countries (mainly South Africa, India, Australia, Canada) dont bother. The new Autonomy System is not fun. The Blitz-Function is not useful in practice and the new focus trees are only for these countries and even then, while being slightly bigger than the old ones they have the problem of all focus trees: you dont have a huge choice. You can choose to be democratic, communist, fascist or make your own faction (like with all focus trees) Besides this, there's an industrial, an army and an Navy branch and you will go through these depending on what you think is needed the most.

The Devs at one point in Development said that "everything that doesnt require a choice should be taken out" as doing something without a choice is work. This is something that they should at some point tell the EU4 development team of late, but also something that they should follow themselves.

The New Autonomy System is just Work, nothing more. Example? If you're Britain you don't produce the Rubber yourself now, you import it 1Factory/80 Rubber from Malaysia now and in return they get some "independence" which you can only counter by either building in their province or by sending them lendlease, I.E. Guns. What this means is that now, instead of just having rubber, every 2? years you need to either order a factory to be produced in their state or send them a few convoys. Both 1 Factory (!) and 40? Convoys are so little that this has NO impact whatsoever on your economy but you need to do this, everytime, for every country you import from. It's tedious. If you want any of your countries to contribute, I.E. produce guns for you, you can no longer have a factory in their state that produces guns, you need them to export them to you, and, in return, either build more factories in their country or send them convoys too. Again, this sounds like a choice but it isn't! Take all you can and whenever any country starts complaining give them 50ish convoys and they shut up for a year. Give them 200 any you wont hear from them till WW2 is over.

It 100% is a system introduced for no other reason but to introduce a new system and say "look at our DLC". I really hope that this is one of the first systems to be overhauled or at least gets an "deactivate" option at the start.

I own it and enjoy it simply for the added historical progression in how the commonwealth nations act. Also the blitz function works quite well in specific situations/divisions. To be fair though I'm very bias in regards to hoi 4 as it is my favourite game and I'm going to buy anything new and shiny that they release. Wait for a sale though as they come regularly. Especially during the lead up of 1.4 dlc being released.
