I'm hoping someone can tell me how to supply troops overseas who have landed in a occupied Allied country. That's to say I land troops in French North Africa then watch them wither away because since its French territory the French must supply them and the game won't let me supply them from the US.

Any idea how you do that? I know some hard core player knows the answer. Thanks

You can not, only who ownes the province can supply. Invade a nearby province and then move your troops out of africa. Most times now I do not allie with anyone because of this. Sapper is an unusual word , were you a real Sapper?

I ran into that issue in a recent game. My troops invaded Axis-occupied French North Africa around Casablanca and then lost supply about a week after landing. I believe the issue was that the supply line to those French-owned provinces came from the French capital, which was somewhere in central Africa by that point. There was intervening Italian territory (or perhaps Italian occupied territory) between the French capital and French North Africa. Once a single division cleared a path through the Italian territory, supply routes were established.

i thought you could establish your own supply routes in the options... though i've never had this problem

Only the country who ownes the province can supply it. You can make supply routes but only to your owned provinces, not to French provinces.

A round about way to do it is to simply dump a bunch of supplies on your host ally. Toss about 10k or so to the French and it should turn out alright long as you toss more as needed.

It's an incredibly inefficient way to do it I'll grant you but... What you gonna do huh?

Actually I thought you just need to create a supply convoy fleet, from a home port or supply base (if USA, say from NY or similiar). Then choose a destination point (your beachhead??). Make sure you have enough supply convoy ships to do it. This is different than transport ships, which transport your troops overseas. For those, add and some DD's for protection. Use newer DD's for the range, and if they dont make it as far as you have to go, do it without DD's.

The supply convoy will run back and forth from supply origination point to destination point as long as the supplies are available. Make sure you send supplies and oil, or your planes, ships, and tanks will grind to a halt without oil. If you have enough suppies / oil at your beachhead the fleet will stop sending supplies / oil there until they need it again.

You need to build supply convoy ships to do it....which are different than regular Troop transport ships from the production table....HOI2 will also automatically create supply convoys but I usually set it up myself. If you have trouble, just let it do it automatically. It has been a while since I played but the trick is to build the convoys from the production list.

Hope that helps..

PS. The HOI2 wiki page has lots of good info on it as well. I think it is explained better on it. There should also be other threads on it in the HOI2 forums. I also only play regular HOI2 and not with any mods (Armegeddon, etc).
