Question about succession

Good evening everyone


I have a big question about the succession in CKII. When one of your vassals (of any rank) inherits a title from another realm (ie something neither under your rule nor in your dejure demesne) how is the holder's allegance decided ? Because I have gained some titles this way, but I have as well lost some.

In my experience it has to do with the highest title. If the inherited title is higher than their current they will leave your realm. If it is equal or less he will stay in your realm.
