Question about strategic bombing.

Hi all, I am playing historical US and fighting the Pacific War against Japan. I have captured Iwo Jima and using it as a forward base to bomb the Japanese factory to lower their war effort. But I have a couple of questions that hopefully you guys could help me out:
1) How do I know how effective I am doing this job and how much damage I have caused to them?
2) How many strategic bombers are enough? And do I need to assign heavy fighter to escort the bombers?
3) Shall I bomb them on day and night routine or just day bombing?

1. There is a Detail button here with the DLC, press F3, click an air zone then press Detail

2. Let's start with 200. If you have heavy fighter than yes, Otherwise pure strate bombers is durable . I think 1 heavy fighter escort 3 bombers.
3. If you can do day, then of course do night too unless you want to save fuel. Usually strategic bombing start from night first, if enemy intercept is weak then bomb on day too.

If you have La Resistance you can also see the damage your strategic bombing is doing in the civilian intelligence panel if you have enough intel on the target
