Hello everyone :)

I got a question about ships and tanks, lets say i get panzer III and spent alot of xp on it for upgrading, the same with a ship of a specific year and class.
what will i gain from getting a new tank or ship model? Will they have a higher ground stats?

sorry for the bad english :(

I think they said the next tech level is just below a maxed out variant.

So a variant can go to level 5 in all stats, the next tech level will be equivalent to a level 4 in all stats (but of course you can then make a variant of it and upgrade it further)

That's going from memory tho.

You can max out in all stats- reliability, speed, armour and gun of a PzIII and make an upgraded tank which is better than a base model of a PzIV and keep your gearing bonus and keep pumping PzIII all the game, that is definitely a good thing.
In fact, Guderian repeatedly told the High command- Pump out PzIII and IV and their variants and stop big tank research, just upgrade the existing tanks into better variants- bigger gun, more armour, more speed, more reliability, a TD version, an Assault Gun version etc.

you can but xp in reliabitiy to. can´t you?

From the latest WWW Jacob maxed out his ME109 and reduced the reliability to 42%, even with 5 on reliability. So unless you want kit breaking down a lot I'd only recommend slight tweaking of variants, otherwise just research the next year's model for better long term results.

Eachstat has it's counter point.
You upgrade armour
+1 armour
-1 speed
-1 reliability

So you improve the engine to try and counter it
+1 speed
-1 reliability

So if you maxed both armour and Engine you'd end up with -10 reliability, reliability only improves it by +1 so max version is better for armour and engine but less reliabile.

This. Totally agree. So minor tweaks to your variants is the way forward in my opinion. Again this makes players make hard choices so in this regard adds great gaming value.

Yup. Superupgrading your low tier equipment makes it strong, but also break down way faster. Imagine a tank carrying a gun that is way too big for its chassis and thus wears it down faster. Or an engine that is too heavy, too large, etc. Overloaded plane, and so on and so forth.
