Yea i did it with having transporters in stockpile and set them in the conquered yugoslavian harbours, but this is just a runarround and is pretty stupid, cause when you forget to do things like this you have to load a year old save (when you have one)
You cannot blame no one but your own brain for forgetting. You think that is stupid, you should look at Chinese theater of war in-game.

I think i can blame the developers of the former games for this problem. Maybe i dont make a treaty with italy and have no base in the mediteranian see before the war starts? Is this my forgetting then? In every other thread the people want it more historical and not too gamey, here you suggest gamey solutions. And i dont know what you mean with china in this discussion.

I wonder if you could just assign him to an airborne division and avoid the whole naval superiority issue altogether. I could see Rommel jumping out of a transport plane. :) Of course giving him some German armored units to play with would be subject to the naval concerns already mentioned.
Easy, airdrop the Rommel paratroop division into Lybia, then change its template to a panzer division. So long as they are in supply in Italian territory the needed equipment should flow in.

Ok, so you don't make a treaty with Italy. If that happened in real life, how in hell would Rommel get to Afrika? In real life his troops were shipped in Italian transports, cause Italy and Germany were allies, they operated from Italian-held territory, and supplied by Italian convoys. If Italy and Germany are not allies, none of that happens.
Another solution I can suggest, is to transfer DAK to Italians as expeditionary troops (you know - LIKE IN REAL LIFE), and then as Italy ship them to Afrika. Once there, you can return control back to Germany. Once again - developers gave a non-gamey way out, but you are too lazy to take it. Sure, its easier to blame the game developers and whine, then to use your own head to solve the easy problem.

OR .... as Germany you can do what Germany did historically and take Yugoslavia and Greece and get your own ports in the Med. You would still have to deal with the RN and rely on help from the RM but it could work ... would take prioritizing naval air + fighters by both Germany and Italy to make the Med a bad place to be for the RN, but those are the strategic decisions that make HOI so entertaining.

There are no transport ships as separate on-map units any more. No stuff like moving them to Italy before a DoW closes Gibraltar, because there aren't any. Germany just uses it's convoy pool.

Germany also doesn't need to own the ports used, it can use ports controlled by it's allies. This also applies to US - it can move it's forces from UK to France using its own convoys. No more stuff like launching D-Day from US ports, nor doing gamey stuff like annexing a bit of Greece just to give you a port in the Med. I'm sure that had gone even with HOI3.

The generals don't need to travel by sea or land. They can lead an army in any theatre. IRL they would be flown in.

So to repeat the German Divs can cross from Sicily to Tripoli, even if Germany doesn't have naval superiority, as it's not an invasion. So there doesn't even have to be a single Kriegsmarine ship in the Med.

You do not need to give Italy the Divs as an Expeditionary Force.

Rommel is abstracted to fly. Even if the Divs are lost if the convoys are sunk, Rommel won't be killed.

There is no longer any mechanic causing a potential problem with representing the German involvement in North Africa. As long as you are prepared to take the risk that the convoys might be sunk.

Its a short question about something that was nearly impossible in Hoi2 and Hoi3.
Can we send our dessert fox to lybia???
In the early games it was pretty hard to get transporters into the mediteranian sea with a closed Gibraltar. Also we could never use italian ships for it. In mods there were events that give germany a transport fleet in italy, but not in the original game. So how does it work with the actual system?

In HoI3, Danzig or War is a limited war, keeping Italy out of the conflict, until Germany calls it to arms.

Which is of no relevance to this question. IRL not only had Italy invaded France, but also invaded Egypt. But they were defeated and then Germany had to come to their rescue, and send the DAK to save Libya.

Yea in Hoi 3 it was a bit better but still pretty gamey, in Hoi2 and Darkest hour it was harder. Still i would like when its works in the mediterranean as in all other seas.
