I'm still relatively new to the game, so it's possible I'm overlooking something. Nonetheless, I was unable to find the answer to this problem.

I'm trying to request ownership of a Paragon dwelling. The relations are at integrated, I can pay the influence cost, and I have a nearby colony that can annex another sector. Despite meeting those requirements, the option remains grayed out, telling me that I'm lacking the nearby colony.

What gives? I'm unable to find an explanation for this. My guess would be that my colony center needs to border the dwelling in question (it doesn't), but this isn't stated anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

So assuming you haven't bugged it out with a mod it can be one of a few factors.

You said you have a city nearby however there are factors that can prevent it. First is, has the city crossed an annex a sector threshold (4, 8, 12, 16) but you have not yet annexed a sector for it? The rule is the city must be able to take a new sector, not just be close enough. Also, it must be within two sectors of the city center and there must be an annexed sector connecting them.

I'm not using any mods, and I'm running whatever is the most recent version.

The colony can currently annex a new sector, that being the fourth and last one. Based on your explanation, the problem seems to be that, due to some snakey expansion, the colony center and the dwelling aren't actually connected by another annexed sector. It's a shame I wasn't made aware of this rule sooner (or maybe I was and forgot about it), but I should be able to work around it.

Thanks for the help!

You can always release a sector you've already claimed as a forward base if you need to rearrange your sectors to take over the dwelling. I usually do that if I reach integrated status after a colony near a dwelling has already hit the sector limit.

There's 3 possibilities:
1) Your Colony actually out of it's range. There are sectors that too large, that make the range equal to 2 sectors. I had this problem before. Show the overview map if possible.
2) You Colony already have maximum the same kind sectors similar to that Dwelling. Each Colony only have max 2 Energy sector, 2 Building sectors.. etc. Check your Sectors again.
3) Bug... who knows.
