Hello. I am wondering if there is a functional difference between having park assets inside or outside of a painted park district, other than possible income that comes with having a district.
I am basically wanting to turn a beach into a more active place for cims to visit but the only way I seem to be able to place assets is with a road, which is kinda ugly on a beach. Using pedestrian roads wouldn't be nearly so bad but they require being in a pedestrian zone (well, having the assets work anyways, as far as I know), and that would mean erasing the park district.

The beaches seem sort of lifeless, which is to bad.

There are 2 kinds of park assets, those that come with parklife (I.E. the ones under the city park, amusement park, zoo, and nature reserve tabs), and base game-style parks (I.E. everything else).

Parklife assets belong in a park district, and inside of those you can place them freely as long as they are somewhat close to a pedestrian path. Outside of a park area they can still be placed roadside.

Base game style parks (which includes some DLC parks like the plazas from plazas and promenades) don't interact with parklife districs.

Based on your description it sounds like you're trying to place non-parklife parks in a parklife district, which is why you're having to place them alongside roads. So you have 2 options here, either you keep the district and use parklife assets, or you keep the assets you're currently using, in which case you can remove the park district without issue and replace it with a pedestrian area.

What he is describing is that there are no roads that match the beach. When you want to place assets from the Leisure tab like a marina or a pier you need a road to connect them to.

Ah, i see, that makes perfect sense. Thank you. Having just got the game a month ago or so it all sort of blends in together for me. And yes, I was trying to place non park-life assets on the beach, like the beach volley ball court for instance. Thank you for your answer, I'm pretty sure that clears it all up for me.
