Question about New England

Is there already a county or duchy based on this one? I've noticed a number of pseudo-historical individuals and events already, and I figure this one might be cool if it's not already in the game.

There's no duchy in game right now that represents "New England". A titular title for an Anglo Saxon/English ruler ruling somewhere on the Black Sea coast would fit though if added

That sounds neat. It's a darn shame it's not in the game already. Would make for a fun Ironman game.

Thanks for bringing this up, it was an interesting read. I had no idea such a thing happened. Would be a really cool addition but no idea how it could be done. It sounds like it would be a great idea for it's own adventure game.

Easy as - play a 1067-1070 start as a Byzantine count somewhere in the Crimea or the eastern Black Sea. Use Ruler Designer and start as an Anglo Saxon Catholic. Marry another Catholic and make lots of Anglo-Saxon Catholic babies. Convert the province to AS/C, become a Merchant Republic and build New England into a Black Sea rival to Genoa and Venice.

Oh, and survive purges, title revocations, Georgian and Bulgar raids, Khazars, the post-Manzikert Muslim whirlwind, Mongols and the Black Death.

Which I also found interesting in that article is that many, if not most Varangian guards are said to be of English culture without question.

This technically could happen in the game already.

A mercenary band fights for Byzantium and gets landed with some titles in that area. I don't think the player could do it and be accurate to the roaming band helping defend Constantinople.
